ABOUT ME

Hallo, my name ist Tom Hegen, I am a Photographer and Graphic Designer from Munich, Germany. For my work, I spent a lot of time in the air. I am on helicopters, hot-air balloons or small planes to document human presence on earth. I am interested in the concept of the term »Anthropocene« and like to look into the relationship between man and nature and how we as human beings affect nature. My job and my passion for traveling brought me to some very unique places on earth and I would never want to miss this experience.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined this wonderful network back in 2010. Since that time I had some great experiences couchsurfing in New Zealand and Australia. I had great hosts. Occasionally I also meet up with some other couchsurfers in cities or try to show people around in my hometown.

I'm interesting in sketching, drawing, I'm a sport fanatic, football, music, good meals, hiking, climbing and for sure photography.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My civil service I did for one year in New Zealand back in 2010. I spent there one year, doing volunteer service at a college. I supported there disabled students. I enjoyed every minute abroad! It's been a fantastic time, with fantastic people around! I learned to love the New Zealand backcountry, especially during hiking and photographing.
