Hello Wold :)
Hi fellow CSers, if you're contacting me about my Istanbul trip (or any others) please reach me via my Facebook event Page "Let's do Lunch" so that I will see your message... Also "Like" the page as it's a new project I've started. Here's the link: https://www.facebook.com/LetsdolunchUrbanguide
See you in Istanbul 14th - 18th oct or in London!
First things first:
1.my name is Kai, and no, my parents didn't name me Travelmakerkai so if i get a request calling me that I know you copied and pasted!
2. Any requests not acknowledging that my parents bothered to name me will also get a "Hi" back with "sorry I can't help". Would you let a stranger who doesn't even bother to address you by your name stay in your home?... There you go!
I'm not hosting for references so I will say no if you haven't bothered to read my profile, address me by my name and not just "hi", and if your request is generally sh** (avoid all these just by reading my profile - trust me it works)! :D
Self confessed travel addict... I want to see the world!... The good, the bad and the darn right ugly. I seek the truth. I'm a curious being. Oh, and I'm a student! (Sometimes even I forget that part!)
I'm very lucky and blessed to be living right in the heart of london. Walking distance from important attractions and sights. It's also the heart of media and Theatreland so a lot happens in my part of london!
If I am able to help in anyway I'll try! I know how nerve racking it can be to send a message so I will always try to read requests and reply... sorry I can't host everyone! Please note I can't take couch requests weeks in advance.
Come to my home like you're visiting a friend! Offering a meal/drinks is always a bonus. As is a gift from your country :)
**My home isn't a hotel, hostel, storage place! Please make an effort to spend some time with your lovely host :)**
Happy and safe CSurfing!
I'm a traveller but I'm not a nomad. I know where I'm from and I know where I'm going... home is sweeter than chocolate!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Please read my profile before sending a request. I will repeat:
**Please note my MAYBE is more like a NO. I just don't have time to host. So I will only be hosting those that have donated towards my project #Art4ChangeHaiti www.gofundme.com/art4changehaiti and/or are will to help with campaigning (i.e helping me hand out flyers). Please ONLY REQUEST A COUCH IF YOU FIT THE CRITERIA. Thanks**
For me hosting is about really interacting with CSers. Before you send me a request ask yourself- will we get along? can you see us keeping in touch? Can we learn anything from each other?
Please do not disrespect me or my space. I won't hesitate to leave a negative reference so lets just respect each others boundaries. Thanks
have hosted a number of CS... I enjoy hearing people's stories from all walks of life. :D
I love hosting those who have hosted me and vice versa. I just like it when CS goes beyond sleeping on a couch! I've made some great friendships which are always rekindled when connected again.
And it seems the world really is a small place... Or I'm becoming an experienced traveller! I'm starting to 'bump' into couchsurf friends in different cities- loves it!!
I'm so touched by the hospitality I've recieved from CS hosts during
my travels- especially those who answered my emergency couch requests. I feel inspired to do the same! But of course, it's better to send me a personal requests with enough notice when possible!
I love hosting dinner parties... So look out for my CS London potluck dinner events coming soon :)
Photography, Dance, Theatre, Teaching english, new cultures, traveling, salsa (dancing!), parties...I'm a real party girl! It can be with one person enjoying great conversations with some wine or a group of friends on the dance floor going crazy! haha!(I have to eat my words... Less partying as I'm now a student and have to concentrate on studies)
Music, Movies, and Books
i'm not the book worm I used to be when I was a teenager. But I have a varied collection of books (I'm emotionally attached to my books... I find it hard to give them away even if they are collecting dust!)
Too many favourites to mention! Please suggest 'must-reads' I'm always buying books!
City of God... First time hated it! I almost cancelled my ticket to Brazil lol! Then I grew to love it. Cinematically and structurally i think its a great piece of work!
If it has rhythm- I'll dance to it!
I especially love drums... Bring out the bongos!! House music + live bongos= I'm glued to the dance floor!
Samba, salsa, latin music etc.
Love African music! Love the modern thriving Afrobeat scene (african hiphop). South African House... Mind blowing!
Rnb, some hip hip, British urban music.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Visiting Brazil was a childhood dream, now thats been achieved the world's a much smaller place!
-in Salvador Bahia, samba dancing to live music played by elder locals in a small, hot 'off the beaten tourist track' bar.I don't even have a picture of that night...
-Sometimes the best moments are the simplest. And our best memories are captured with our hearts... Not the latest digital camera :D
-The most amazing thing I've done?... The times I've allowed myself to be truly happy. That's when I've witnessed God's amazing wonder. Earth.
