About Me
Unfortunately I'm rarely hosting these days, so please only request to stay with me if you feel we have similar interests / something in common, or you've previously hosted me or you’re re-visiting me (happy to welcome back friends!) 👋🏾
You can read my blog post on how to write your request: https://wp.me/p2wFyN-2Oi
My name is Kai, I joined the CS community 10yrs+ ago(!) which is probably why my profile is so long 😅
I enjoy hosting and sharing travel experiences over some good food or wine (or tea), however the first stage is to accept a good request!
Any requests addressing me with just "Hi" or "Hi There/ Travelmakerkai" (my name is Kai, obviously not Travelmakerkai) will most likely not get my time or attention... Would you let a stranger who doesn't even bother to address you by your name stay in your home?...
I’d like to make genuine connections! So request to stay or hang out if you think we can connect! And if you're able to host me in your country in exchange please mention this in your request (I'm always looking for an escape route out of London!)
**I'm not hosting for references, and I know it’s cliche but my home is my temple - I don’t let just anyone in. I will say no to:
- 'copy and pasters'
- those with incomplete profiles
- those using CS as a dating website; DON’T ruin a potentially genuine friendship by making unsolicited sexual advances on me - it’s cheap, tacky and disrespectful!
**Hosting on CS is NOT an obligation for me. I choose to host as and when I can.
Please be travel-wise. Be aware that hosts can cancel at anytime as have a backup plan.
p.s no offence but I will not host smelly people (I trust your judgement to know your hygiene standards)... My home, my rules!
Thanks :)

ABOUT ME:
I'm a curious being which is why the dream has always been to be a journalist so I can share stories. I'm particularly interested in the 'Black diaspora' experience; music, dance, culture, food, language etc. Happy to share more when we meet!
I live in Central London, walking distance from many interesting attractions. It's also the heart of media and Theatreland so a lot happens in my part of london! That said, London is hectic and tiring (I'm a born and bred Londoner so no, I don't want to see Buckingham Palace for the 100th time!) - please understand that I probably won't join you on your touristy ventures unless it's something very new for me or you happen to have a spare ticket for example.
Happy and safe CSurfing!
Kai

Music, Movies, and Books
i'm not the book worm I used to be when I was a teenager. But I have a varied collection of books (I'm emotionally attached to my books... I find it hard to give them away even if they are collecting dust!)
Too many favourites to mention! Please suggest 'must-reads' I'm always buying books!
Movies:
City of God... First time hated it! I almost cancelled my ticket to Brazil lol! Then I grew to love it. Cinematically and structurally i think its a great piece of work!
Music:
If it has rhythm- I'll dance to it!
I especially love drums... Bring out the bongos!! House music + live bongos= I'm glued to the dance floor!
Samba, salsa, latin music etc.
Love African music! Love the modern thriving Afrobeat scene (african hiphop). South African House... Mind blowing!
Rnb, some hip hip, British urban music.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Visiting Brazil was a childhood dream, now thats been achieved the world's a much smaller place!
-in Salvador Bahia, samba dancing to live music played by elder locals in a small, hot 'off the beaten tourist track' bar.I don't even have a picture of that night...
-Sometimes the best moments are the simplest. And our best memories are captured with our hearts... Not the latest digital camera :D
-The most amazing thing I've done?... The times I've allowed myself to be truly happy. That's when I've witnessed God's amazing wonder. Earth.
