Greetings, I'm Tun, currently living my biggest adventure yet: travelling from Western Europe to South-East Asia overland, without a plane. (for reference, I have short hair now, see pictures). I'm starting in Italy, to cross the Alps and follow down the Danube to the Black Sea. From there, I'll step over onto Asia in Istanbul, and traverse Turkey, Iran and Pakistan, to reach India and Nepal, from where I'll hopefully be able to continue further eastwards across Bangladesh and Myanmar to reach my destination. I'm travelling mostly by hitchhiking, with the occasional bus or train ride, and I sleep where I can: in my tent, at people's I meet on the road, in hostels when I need a rest, and of course on the couches of fellow surfers who are not on the road these days:)) While my current life fits into my backpack, I did leave many things behind: not only friends and family, but also books I used to study, instruments I used to play, boards I used to surf, sails I used to ride the wind, shoes I used to jump in, pans I used to cook in, and so on... All things I'd love to share with travellers once I'm sedentary again. I'm a calm person by nature, I can appreciate the beauty of the moment, mind my own business or share a silence, but I'm also very social. I love to be surrounded by people, to go out, have a laugh, debate and discuss the mysteries of our world, crack a few jokes, share food and drink, play some music, and enjoy life to the fullest. I'm easy-going, I can sleep just about anywhere despite my size, I clean after myself (and clean myself as well, of course:), and I'd say I'm a decent cook and passable company, at the very least:)) I'm an avid learner, and I especially love folklore and local legends. I'll gladly go for long hikes, visit historical sites, and share everything I know and can do with my hosts: guitar skills, languages, food, card games and magic tricks, and my wits:) Hope to see you on the road, Tun

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
To help other people, and to get help, I guess It's quite simple: I'd rather meet new people, get thrown into a new social circle, live new experiences, create new bonds, than have a mansion with a pool to myself (which I can't afford anyways). Frankly, I think I wouldn't survive travelling without meeting new people. What's the point of making experiences when you can't share them? Hosting, although so far I've never done it via CS, is a great way to help people. Helping people feels good. More people should help people. Really.

One Amazing Thing I've Done
I spent a week in Sweden living off of a kayak with some good friends. I sailed through Fryslån in a Valk for a week. Slept in a tent. Or the boat. Or just outside. I went windsurfing in the north sea at 40+ knots, at a water temperature of 2°C, at 8 in the morning (the sun had just risen). I stayed in the water a total of 5 minutes, but I nearly shat (and did piss) my wetsuit multiple times. I have yet to get more scared than that. I got chased by an angry bull through a field, after a friend (whose father owned the bull), told me it was safe. I participated in a week-long offshore sailing race. Twice. We won once. I went Ice Skating on frozen canals in the Netherlands one winter. I climbed the mast of a boat. It then capsized. I might have broken the mast. I've never broken a limb. Which I am very proud of. I've also never hit anyone. Not even drunk. I've flown a glider. I nearly got smoked out in a camper van. Someone forgot to turn off the gas stove and left me sleeping in the camper.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach all I know. I'd say my strengths are languages. Also, I can teach a few card or dice games (after I've checked the rules on Google, just to be sure). I can teach some chords, riffs, songs, on the guitar. I can show you a few dishes I like to cook. I can teach you all I know about healthy eating, strength, mobility and endurance. And about what they teach me at university, the little bits I remember. I can share with you my view of the world, my thoughts on our future, my take on humanity. The things I've lived and the things I dream about. I can share a good moment, a meal, a drink, a smoke, a memory. And I want to learn anything. Literally. From growing your own food to making fires to fixing cars to understanding society. From learning languages to learning a new instrument, a new sport, new techniques. Discovering new cultures, dishes, ecosystems, and most of all, people
What I Can Share With Hosts
A place in my tent. It's gonna be very, very tight tho.
My Interests
I like to stay physically active, mostly playing volleyball, running a bit here and there, and generally staying fit. To maintain this on the road I got some gymnastic rings with me. A very big part of this is also being outdoors: hiking, kayaking, but most importantly for me: windsurfing. Of course, that's not all there is to life. I love playing music (mostly guitar), eat good food (fancy some tiramisu?) in good company, and fight sleep in long nights.
