Hello there :)

My name is Ulviyya. I was born and raised in Azerbaijan. Then lived in Lithuania for a while because of my family moving there. I have studied Chemical Engineering at METU, Turkey by British Petroleum scholarship . Then, I continued my academic studies and started my research as a Master student in Material Science and Nanotechnology at Bilkent University, Turkey. My major research topic included semiconductor nanoparticles synthesized via wet chemistry. Very soon I am going to move to Espoo, Finland to start my PhD and work as a researcher at Aalto University.
My hobbies include learning new languages

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As I'm going to move to Finland for PhD studies and research work, I want to learn their culture and general life style. It would be great if some Finnish people would want to be a host for me for few days. ^_^ I will try to share my own experience and good moments with those hospitable people. I am a fan of rock music, and some Finnish bands such as Nightwish, Apocalyptica, Sonata Arctica, Poets of the Fall and so on.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a fan of fantasy genre books such as Lord of the Rings, Amber, Mistborn and etc. However, I also like classics such Count of Monte-Cristo, Les Misérables and detectives, especially by Agatha Christie. I listen to all kind of music, but my favorites are rock and folk music. From movies I have been a long time fan of Lord of the Rings and Matrix.

I would be glad to share my knowledge regarding Turkey, post-Soviet countries including my home country Azerbaijan. :) I am sure to have something in common and some beautiful differences.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My knowledge about various cultures I encountered during my lifetime :) Also depending on the preferences, we can talk about science, art and so on. I like cooking, so would be glad to cook or help in the kitchen. ^_^
