I'm curious and open-minded. I like meeting people from all over the world, hearing their stories and expanding my world view. I have an opinion on many topics, but I don't try to convince someone, and always open to new perspectives. I don’t like it when people treat Couchsurfing as a free stay: there is much more about it. Whenever I host or surf, I always read the profile and references to know the person. That’s why I can’t stress enough how important it is to have a complete profile, extensive references (and links to social network profiles if there is not enough information available).

I consider Couchsurfing to be a great place to meet passionate travelers from all over the world. I like listening to stories and sharing the experience. It is always interesting to know how is it to travel, live, study, work in different parts of the planet. Couchsurfing experience makes people feel at home even when they are far from their country. I also like sharing the information about the place where I live, because no guide knows better what to see, where to eat and what to do, rather than the local.

Nowadays, I am trying to read as much as I can. I find books to be a great source of information and thoughts. I turned my attention from literature and science fiction to popular science, technology, history, and biographies.
I like snowboarding, skiing, swimming, and hiking. I try to learn surfing, and although I surfed on different islands and continents, I am still a beginner. I enjoy to do or to watch other sports, such as football and hockey, tennis and skating. I played handball for my university team but haven't had a chance to play it recently.
I am a tech-guy with a degree in computer science. I like gadgets, programming, and artificial intelligence. Since junior high school, I fixed phones and computers for my friends and relatives, and I am still getting requests to help, even 8000 km away from my home country.
I like motorcycles: passed the tests and got my driver’s license at the age of 16 (the first day when I was eligible to do so). I attended high school bike club and owned two motorcycles, but currently drive a car.
And of course, I love traveling: exploring the planet and meeting knowledgeable and fascinating people gives me great sense and broadens the horizons. I’ve been to 60+ countries (mostly in Europe and Southeast Asia though) and got many stories to tell and experience to share.

Some of my favorite books are: “Thinking, Fast and Slow” by Daniel Kahneman and a series of books by Yuval Noah Harari: “Sapiens. A Brief History of Humankind,” “Home Deus. A Brief History of Tomorrow,” and “21 Lessons for the 21 century.”

My favorites movies are “The Shawshank Redemption,” “A Beautiful Mind,” and “Knockin' on Heaven's Door.”

Recently, I mostly listen to audiobooks or podcasts, but when driving a car with Veronica, she is a DJ, and I like her taste.

I can teach and share everything that I know. I can show and explain how to snowboard or ski. We've got extra equipment to share.
I like traveling, and I know how to find reasonable airfares, how to plan itineraries, how to get the maximum of frequent flyer miles (once I booked a first class ticket for 19,000 miles).
I can help with your phone or computer: I disassembled and dried an iPhone of a couchsurfer when he dropped it into the water. I advised some couchsurfers on how to upgrade SSD of their MacBook Air.
If you’d like to learn new phrases in the foreign language, I can teach Belarusian or Russian, even some bits of Japanese. I can also recommend the best apps and approaches I know to tackle a new language.

I bring small gifts or souvenirs from the place I live or countries I visited. We also like sending postcards from countries we are traveling to. In the digital world, it requires no effort to open an app and send a message, that’s why it doesn’t bring as much joy as a physical postcard, that traveled across the globe.
