About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Seeking the daily pleasures and joys that the world has to offer

ABOUT ME

We met at the University of California Berkeley years ago, Jamin was studying Biochemistry/Neurology, and I, Psychology/Education. We like to think of ourselves as a socially aware, environmentally conscious, diverse couple.

Jamin is taking a break from studying medicine to dedicate more time to his tutoring company, and a surf company he is currently founding. I just finished my graduate studies in educational psychology.

We have been involved in a program called Healing Hearts Across Borders within which we provide psychological, medical and dental care to impoverished individuals and families in the neighboring communities of Tijuana, Mexico. I am Mexican-American and Jamin is part Native-American, German and Finnish. We are both fluent in English and Spanish and our French and Italian could use a little (okay, a lot of) work.

We embrace people from all walks of life and seek to continually have our eyes opened to the more nuanced facets of humanity. We currently live in Solana Beach, California and have attempted to immerse ourselves in an environment in which myriad cultures, sexualities, mindsets and languages thrive and coexist in some reasonable semblance of unity. We are relatively calm, patient, easy-going people.

*For those who might offer us a home in which to stay:

We enjoy cooking, dancing, singing, art, lovely wine and the general outdoors. We enjoy stimulating and challenging conversation but are content to keep to ourselves. We are a very low-maintenance couple and despite the fact that we look forward to meeting new people, we are not seeking anything other than a good night's sleep.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We have spent many months backpacking the world but have only begun to scratch the surface of the traveling we hope to do in our lives. Jamin has seen turtles, whales, sharks, seals, and regularly surfs with dolphins here in San Diego - he has seen everything in the ocean since he is part fish. https://www.facebook.com/notes/jamin-luoto/deft-delphinidae/10150643706802385
