I think it's a good idea to start a hosting request with the hosts name and showing that you have read his profile.
Another good idea, after getting hosted, is to write the reference within a few days.

In my opinion all this "I want to share local life and exchange culture " so often is just empty copy & paste.
You want to have good time, won't you ?

Lots of hitchhiking in the younger days..

and more recently:

2015 we paddled the river Rhine for 185 km with a Packraft rubber boat.
2016 we paddled the river Tara in Montenegro ( which was much !!! more fast ... )

Nice, calm place, cats, garden, a bottle or two. And a couch of course :-)
The couch is in a big tent-style "room" in the garden.
