About Me

Born and raised in Mesquite, Texas. I'm addicted to spontaneous travel and thinking on my feet. At 18, I voluntarily went homeless for a week in downtown Dallas for a week for the experience and then hitchhiked the contiguous 48 states by 21. In 2013, I raised money on Kickstarter to document a hitchhiking trip with 3 other people through the Midwest. My idea of fun is throwing myself into difficult situations and figuring my way out of them.

Some of my favorite quotes:

"You never learn anything by doing it right"

"Courage is not the lack of fear. It is acting in spite of it"

"Speak without offending, listen without defending"

"The gratification comes in the doing, not in the results"

"I have never let schooling interfere with my education"

"Do not lose hold of your dreams or aspirations. For if you do, you may still exist but you have ceased to live"

"Personality can open doors, but only character can keep them open"

"Study logic. Then break all the rules"

"Don't be afraid to be a fool. Remember, you cannot be both young and wise. Young people who pretend to be wise to the ways of the world are mostly just cynics. Cynicism masquerades as wisdom, but it is the farthest thing from it. Because cynics don't learn anything. Because cynicism is a self-imposed blindness, a rejection of the world because we are afraid it will hurt us or disappoint us. Cynics always say no. But saying yes begins things. Saying yes is how things grow. Saying yes leads to knowledge. "Yes" is for young people. So for as long as you have the strength to, say yes"

"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."
-Dr. Seuss

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ran away from home when I was 15 to see the girl I was "in love" with, hitchhiked the continental 48 states by the age of 21, train hopped from Fort Worth Texas to Muskogee Oklahoma, stayed homeless voluntarily in downtown Dallas for a week and wrote about the experiences after high school at the age of 18, performed the Heimlich maneuver on a girl in the middle of government 2301, found some yoga mats and snuck into a hostel in Venice beach and slept in the bathroom, slept under bridges, ran from cops, skydiving, drove an NYC Taxi I borrowed from this guy off Craigslist around Texas for a couple of weeks.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to hitchhike, sear a perfect steak, shotgun a beer, dougie, stanky legg, and grow sparse Asian facial hair.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stimulating conversation, hitchhiking advice, awesome references, and mens fashion tips. I can also cook a mean steak.
