About Me

Hello. This is Gi Ung Lee, you can just call me Ki. I am currently living in San Francisco and working as a software engineer at Tiktok.

I am the person who always want to be honest with myslf and sincere with the others. I try to treat other people with the bias and want to be a good friend with you.

And I believe we can talk about diverse tooics and issues around us. I pursue to talk with you in depth, but don’t worry. I promise I won’t bite u LOL.

I love to challenge myself by trying new things that I had never done unless it is against the ethics or laws.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Travel has a different meaning to everyone involving me. What does travel mean to you?

For me, travel is understanding the fact that we are living in a very much different world but we have many similar aspects and things to share. To understand who you are, to understand how we are living together in a same age, to understand the pain and happiness each of us have are what I am seeking from the people whom I met during travel.

I am interested in your own stories and everyday lives, I want to be your friend even though it is hard to meet again after the travel. I believe some pieces of memory we share during travel clung to us until we die, and that's why it means a lot to me to enjoy the moment with you :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Usually I love to make an attempt to read unfamiliar books, musics or movies. That's why it is hard for me to pick up 'the favorite thing'.

But, to introduce myself, I love to read books that make me think 'Couldn't we live much happier/abundant life than right now?'. For example, I love to talking about 'How the technology changed our society and how we should adopt to this age', 'How 20s of each country live their everyday lives', 'The somewhat fucking bad education system of Korea' or else.

For the movie, I love to watch somewhat different taste from Korean movies. it's hard for me to describe what is the taste of Korean movie, but when I watch Spanish movie/French movie, it feels me that it has some point that is different from Korean. I was shocked to watch 'The Skin I live In' which is a Spanish movie.

Recently I love jazz music by eddie higgins trio, chat baker and so on. We could go to cool jazz bar in Itaewon, Korea if you visit Korea.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Not Amazing, but Hilarious.

I enjoyed 9 days travel in Cuba, even though I had several difficulties there. It could feel weird, but I enjoyed it actually. It was one of the hardest travel for me, but also it was one of the most precious memory for me.

One of the funny episode was that ATM was not working in Cuba. There were ATMS, but my Korean credit card was not working due to the diplomatic relation between Korea and Cuba governments. So I could not eat anything except the breakfast and it was really painful. After 4 days travel, I found a bank which gave me money by paying specific amount of money with credit cards. On that day, I bought an lobster at my guest house but unfortunately I got a bad stomacache.

It was quite a hard travel, but I felt happy to travel to unknown world and making friends there.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am not a good guy to teach somebody, but I am a guy who could communicate deeply with you.

I think I am good at communicating with people deeply from my mind. We could talk about everyday lives of 20s of each country. I have an episode when I visited Vietnam.

When I visited Vietnam, I made a local friend there. We talk about how the education system of each country, how 20s are planning for the job market, the corruption of the government, the biggest concern of each country. I was so surprised that despite the difference of the system of each country, we are living with so similar aspects.

When you visit Korea or when I am visiting your country, we could talk deeply :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I could spend my time with guests while visiting places and meetings where Korean people enjoy everyday and share him/her how Korean people lives. Especially I could lead them to several places where only local people go and spend their time. Because I am 25, It would be better for the guest around my age 20-30s to share everyday lives of Korean people. :)

When you need any help, you could ask me anything and I will help you everything that I could do for you.
