Hello, my name is Wouter. I am an easy going, open and social person. I work three days a week as a Teacher in Media Design at a college in Eindhoven (NL). I have been rock climbing for twelve years now, and have spent a great deal of my time hanging of cliffs of various sizes.

Besides this I love to make music, and I enjoy meeting new people. I believe that every person or interaction makes me a more complete person. I'm into meditation and spirituality. (it keeps me sane in the world we live in) I'm very interested in other people's outlooks in life and their philosophies.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm new to couch surfing, I've heard about it, and some friends of me have done it. Up untiIl now, I was always on climbing trips. This summer I want to experience something new for me. So I am hitch hiking through Europe for the next month or so. The plan for my trip is to travel, see new places, meet new people, do some soul searching, make some music and to get inspired while enjoying some well earned rest and adventure.

I have been looking around on the CS website now, and reading a lot of profiles. I see a lot of beautiful people I really would like to meet. I feel that I would be missing out on some interesting encounters if I wouldn't be couch surfing. Why haven't I started couchsurfing earlier?

Interests

I'm a Rock climber, (I like sports in general, but I am a slow learner when it comes to sports) I am passionate about making music with people, I'm into meditation and spirituality, reading, and I guess I'm into philosophy but I don't know that much about it.

I have to mention that I'm not really all too fond of board games. I like understatements though.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really like live music. Singer-song writers, or in general bands or people who perform live. If it's getting too loud (trash metal, grunting and screaming) I find it hard to keep up with that emotion. When going out I also love to dance to house, electro or techno music.

I love all the movies of Wes Anderson. I think he is a great director and his movies have this nice atmosphere. I think that I like movies with a romantic or dramatic genre, and not too much happening. The movie 'garden state' comes to mind. I also like action or comedy movies, it really depends on my mood and the moment. In general I like to watch good movies, though I still have to watch the Godfather and Star Wars.

I love reading dutch literature. I feel that I read much, but when people ask me which books I have read I seem to have missed all the classics. There are just so many books to read.

I could probably teach you how to make a website. I can teach you some interesting meditation exercises if you're into that. Or how to play the guitar..

I like to learn from every person I meet, the most valuable lessons being the ones you didn't know were there to learn.

I sometimes have a not completely unoriginal thought, which I'd like to share.
