About Me

Dear fellow Couchsurfers,

Of course it is not going to be hard to find out my real name if you just spend a few minutes reading the following text.

There is some important information in the profile—kindly dedicate a few minutes of your (doubtlessly, precious) time to reading it!

First of all, my residence is in Brussels where I moved in 2015 after having lived in the Netherlands for two years before.

If you need or want to stay in Brussels for one or two months (for free), exceptionally I could help you with such a long stay too.

Trying to amateurishly analyse myself, although the information below is not complete, I could summarise it all by saying that the intensity of openness and (diplomatic) sincerity I show to and "require" from people IN INFORMAL COMMUNICATION may AT TIMES be viscerally excessively open, energy-consuming, and overly outspoken (yet decently so), but I will never intrude into your private space or talk about sensitive subjects about which you might be unwilling to talk to new acquaintances. Actually, don't worry, things are not as overcomplicated as they may seem: I am easy-going, helpful to strangers and friends, and almost never offensive or unfriendly! Of course, I easily can be closed and untalkative as well, but this is not my real nature apart from needing SOME TIME on my own!

I am in Moscow between 18 June 2017 and 17 August 2017, looking forward to staying at different wonderful people's places for around 1-2 weeks. If you would like to be hosted in Brussels at my place "without seeing" (заочно in Russian), you can contact my housemate who is the owner of the flat:

https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/amassart

PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE FACT THAT HE IS A GAY NUDIST (I am not), AND THAT NO ONE IS OBLIGED TO STAY UNDRESSED AT OUR PLACE.

Some additional information:

Normally I communicate on Facebook only, and I strongly avoid those who principally shun using it (I could explain the reason, but what for? Would you be happy to be friends with someone who is a serial killer or someone who abhors mobile phones/calls or anything that makes communication between people so easy and smooth? I would not!).

Please feel free to add me:

https://www.facebook.com/sergeitatarinovcom

You definitely are more than welcome to write down my phone numbers too:

Please note these are secondary means of communication.

I am not always available on both numbers (you can use them if your smartphone has been stolen or lost or if there is no Internet at the place where you happen to be):

+7495 018 5633
+31 641 553 633

TO AVOID ANY MISUNDERSTANDINGS, I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT IF YOU DO NOT USE FACEBOOK AS A MATTER OF PRINCIPLE OR IF YOU ARE OTHERWISE SOCIOPATHIC/ANTI-TECHNICAL-PROGRESS, I PREFER TO HAVE NO COMMUNICATION WITH YOU WHATSOEVER!!!

By the way, as you may have understood in the meantime, although Russian is my mother tongue, there is quite a simple reason why it was removed from the profile as a language spoken: I do not host men or women, nor do I host Russians or Britons—I HOST HUMAN BEINGS regardless of their nationality, ethnicity, faith, etc., so people searching someone mainly based on the language or national identity tend to fail to attract my attention.

Human nature is universal; solely prejudices, and cultural differences are not, nor is the extent to which one is open to others (not at all necesarilly in the context of romantic relationships—manifoldedly meant), but I evidently prefer to meet people as much independent from societal restrictions as possible, although I find it crucial to conform to certain unwritten rules of intellectual society.

There is one important detail I would like to point out: Couchsurgfing is not simply a rotten product of consumerist mentality. I have read many profiles where it was clearly stated or implied that only stays of 2-3 days are welcome, or only at weekends or anything resembling that, or only persons of the male or female sex... ****ing Hell, pardon my French, such people are shameless egoists who do not get the high altruistic, adventurish idea of this wonderful website!

I give the keys of the flat to the guest, and the same is expected from you (a passport scan can be easily sent to you if requested or you can take a photo of it in person if you prefer), and I AM BY NO MEANS INCLINED TO BE HOSTED BY PEOPLE WHO DO NOT TREAT THE GUEST THE WAY I DO!!! Otherwise, what is the point of the whole concept? Such distrust bars the traveller(s) hosted of the utmost pleasure of being treated as (a) good friend(s), and of emotional comfort, which they may need. In other words, I have "high expectations", however foolish this may sound... and I (want to) believe in the goodness and generosity of humanity, and I "practise" those myself whenever possible!

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you".

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

TO HAVE A LOT OF FUN, to find inspirational people... Also, obviously, because it helps one encounter strangers in unusual situations, and ignore materialism by hosting and being hosted for free. It is extremely important to do (some) things altruistically, not just for profit! Such am I, and such are people I emotionally need in life, because its happiness and meaning are mainly based on how much good you do for others, how much love, care, and forgiveness you are willing to give them, and on how you express yourself artistically or otherwise, how much complete a person you are. I want to make the world a better place by spreading knowledge of "becoming oneself", and how to be honest and genuine with people, striving to become better in a broad sense of the word, to help those who need you (financially, intellectually, ACTually, spiritually, etc.) to converse with those who have idealistic beliefs, and draw blissful moments from such talks, find new friends, enjoy quiet moments at home, or to attend concerts of classical music in town, enjoy tea parties or go to bars; because this is an amazing, genuine way to learn about other countries in a non-conventional way; because it keeps you open and virtuous by "serving people" (whilst hosting), as a friend of mine has one put it referring to an abstract "service", by sharing things, thoughts, meals, private space, or having open-minded chats about the mundane or the spiritual or about technically complicated conversations (classical music, modern art, English/French/Russian/etc. literature—just examples), by sharing adventures, and outlooks on the world...

Music, Movies, and Books

A LOT:

Classical music (opera, church music, cantatas, symphonies, concertos for the harpsichord, etc.), fine arts; Dutch, French; English of the XVI, and the XVII centuries, linguistics in general, Russian, French literature; English, Russian, French, Italian poetry; philosophy, history, economics, politics, psychology, spirituality, photography, and other arts, and sciences connected to each other.

Mozart's, Tchaikovsky's, Dargomizhsky's, Handel's, Vivaldi's operas, Haydn's, and Mozart's symphonies, Bach's sacred, and secular cantatas, and a great number of other works of the contemporaries of the composers mentioned above; Shakespeare's sonnets, and plays (Hamlet, Coriolanus, Othello, The Tempest), some poems of John Keats, Johne Donne, a lot of works of Oscar Wilde, Pushkin, Lermontov, Yesenin, (many of them), Voltaire's letters, Milton's "Paradise Lost", David Lean's, and Hitchcock's films.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just one? :)

I don't even know if this can be called an amazing thing, but, at a certain point of my life, I decided to cease to be ashamed of my sinful past which includes gay prostitution (NOT PRACTISED FOR YEARS ANY MORE!!!), and unhappy childhood and youth marred by poverty, benighted uneducated people surrounding my family circle, physical abuse from my father (not sexually), and my mother's brutal alcoholism (between circa 2003-2009) and promiscuity between around 2001 and 2006, and importantly, I managed to forgive them it all, and acknowledge the mistakes made, and to be open to people instead of creating a false image of an unbroken, happy, carefree person (which I actually am but with many scars, and fractures...). In a few words, one of the things I have "achieved" is having become a person quite far from so many I will add some more stories here when I've got time!

I have always tried to understand people, their inner motives, true desires, not judging or hurting others intentionally (those with no sense of humour who take themselves too seriously do not count), being as encouraging and conciliatory to friends as (im)possible or basically anybody who needs my infinite love of peace and of building bridges.

Teach, Learn, Share

Undoubtedly, as a native Russian speaker, I would be glad to help you with learning my mother tongue, (English less willingly as almost any decent educated person speaks it anyway :), Dutch, some French, how to take expressive photographs... What else? Although I have no degree in psychology, but I could (try to) teach you how to read people's minds. Maybe I could teach you how to be a decent human being, or, if you have some lessons for me, I would br happy to learn ;)

I would like to learn German, Italian, and other languages in future, playing the piano, building websites, writing music...

What I Can Share with Hosts

A warm and delightfully hospitable atmosphere, respectful treatment, my second mobile (not a smartphone) with a local SIM card if necessary, a professional photo camera, a tripod, high-end Audio-Technica headphones, the key from the flat, a bicycle card in Brussels (every thirty minutes are for free) or a bicycle of my own, tips about nice restaurants, cafes, bars, clubs, cinemas, ho(s)tels, and theatres in town, meals prepared by my unbelievably hospitable and friendly housemate, tea, coffee, breakfasts, free calls to the EU from my phone if necessary, the use of my Skype account which allows free calls to the landlines of virtually the whole world, and to mobile numbers of the USA, Canada, China, and a small number of other countries; clothes if need be; advice on how to immigrate to the European Union or to Russia, life hacks of various forms, perhaps linguistic help too, computer programmes...
