About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Listen to your inner voice.

ABOUT ME

For me, the most fascinating part of travelling is the inspiring souls I meet on the road. I'd say I'm very easy-going and open-minded. I love embracing the unexpected surprises every time I couchsurf. And I always, always, always enjoy carrying on decent conversations about culture and life experience with people who have good stories =)

I love books, music, movie, gallery, and all kinds of arts, both for sensation and sentiment.

I have traveled to many places in China, and I stayed in the US for a semester as an exchange student in 2010. I came back to the US in May 2013 for my Master. I couchsurfed in China, Taiwan, and many cities in the US. Some of my experiences during couchsurfing have actually changed my life =) I'm about to start my Ph.D. in counseling psychology in 2015. I am fascinated about therapy, the dynamic of human interaction, life and humanity.

I believe in the destiny that maps life encounters. Chinese people call it "缘分". If we happen to get to know each other and share some time together, it is our destiny to make an impact in each other's life =)

PHILOSOPHY

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."

- Steve Jobs

"We only have one short life to live and we shouldn't waste it being tasteful."

- Isaac Mizrahi

"We wish to continue to be and yet are aware of inevitable death;

We crave structure and yet must confront the truth that we are the authors of our own life design and our beliefs and our neural apparatus is responsible for the form of reality: underneath us there is Nichts, groundlessness, the abyss;

We desire contact, protection, to be part of a larger whole, yet experience the unbridgeable gap between self and others;

We are meaning-seeking creatures thrown into a world that has no intrinsic meaning."

-Irvin D. Yalom

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In the US, I couchsurfed in Minneapolis, New York City, Boston, Washington DC, and Philadelphia. As mentioned before, those fantastic experiences have changed my life =)

I also couchsurfed in Xiamen, China, and hung out with CSers in Shanghai group from time to time.

In March 2013, I traveled around the island of Taiwan and couchsurfed the whole trip.

Traveling with the locals is definitely the best way to go!

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music is folk. I love guitar and piano.

As for movies, I love the ones that provoke thinking upon human and life. Those that tell mundane but real life stories always remind me of the unrevealed beauty of human nature.

I always enjoy reading, but unfortunately, as a young adult living in this modern society, it's more and more difficult to find time and read for pleasure :(

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Stuck in a blizzard, had no place to spend the night, but was recued by CSers at Boston!

Traveled and couchsurfed the whole island of Taiwan by myself.

Moved my whole life packed in 2 suitcases to Albany and couchsurfed for the first month.

Said goodbye to everything I had in Shanghai, my family, friends, job and relationship, and started the second chapter of my life in the US :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Almost all the people I meet through CS are nice and amazing!

Countries I’ve Visited

China, Taiwan, Thailand, United States
