About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Rest and rejuvenate in New Zealand with the help of the land, sea, sun, animals, and people...

ABOUT ME

I'm headed to New Zealand with a pretty specific intention that is somewhat new for me...I have felt for years a pull to go to NZ but somehow the time was never right...2013 was an incredibly challenging year for me in many ways as I was confronted with a dear Tibetan friend's son being diagnosed with leukemia...this journey brought me to Mount Kailash in Tibet (I've been there 6 times now), then to Chengdu, China...Spending time in the hospital and in a Chinese city with a Tibetan family dealing with a tremendous illness in a land where medical costs are enormous was a profound experience for me. I am still processing the revelations and events that have taken place this past year and it became obvious that I had to go to NZ. My wish is for me to be able to commune with the land and the beings living there to pave my path towards deep healing and release...This is not negative or heavy, necessarily, I just want to express my intentions clearly as this time around, my primary motive is not merely to sightsee and travel. Thank you for reading and considering meeting up and/or hosting me in your beautiful home that is New Zealand.

My photos probably say more about me than I could write...

Not really easy to do this - I'd say I'm very young in earth-years but have an old spirit - at the same time being a newborn child. I love feeling, learning, sharing, laughing - sounds so cliche...

PHILOSOPHY

Love unconditionally, live every day like it's your last...I firmly believe that with honesty, communication, and love, anything and everything is possible.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Couchsurfing has (oh-so-cliche) changed my life. Over the past 8 years, I have laughed, danced, cried, climbed, fallen, eaten, drank, slept, hugged, kissed, run, walked, cooked, discussed, dreamt, and loved with Couchsurfers.

Thank you to all the Couchsurfers who have graced my life all across the globe.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My travelling is largely couchsurfing with locals - in South America, all over Western Europe, the US, Middle East, and West Africa - it's the best - great home cooked food (or yummy food in restaurants!), local language, daily life, and tips on best places to go that aren't swarming in tourists...Through this site I've surfed in a dozen countries and counting!

Interests

Travelling, photography, scuba diving, food, movies, music, philosophy, hiking, swimming, yoga, meditation, meeting new people...

Music, Movies & Books

Music - I love anything with passion, beautiful stuff that makes you want to cry...or dance like crazy :) Radiohead, Ben Harper, Thievery Corporation, Bob Marley, Elliott Smith, Damien Rice, Howie Day, RHCP, Portishead, Lamb, Federico Aubele, Coldplay, Jack Johnson, Orishas, Rachael Yamagata, Yann Tiersen, Gotan Project, Toots and the Maytals, Youssou N'Dour, Baaba Maal, and of course Beatles, Bob Dylan - so much more -

Movies - I am a movie junkie but haven't watched as many movies these last few years since I was living in India - have some catching up to do ;) : Baraka, Mar Adentro, Amores Perros, Central Station, City of God, Leon, Red, Fight Club, anything Tarantino, Dreams by Akira Kurosawa, Amelie, anything Miyazaki, Almodovar, too many...

Books - anything by Haruki Murakami, Kafka, Goethe, Kite Runner, and I adore South American literature - Pablo Neruda, Isabel Allende, Gabriel Garcia Marquez (Cien Anos and Love in the Time of Cholera are among the best books of all time for me), Jorge Luis Borges, Horacio Quiroga, Ernesto Sabato...etc...

Too many to name - 10 koras (circumambulations) of Mount Kailash in Tibet, Tibet in the winter with all the pilgrims- Patagonia in the winter Vetisquero Perito Moreno (glacier) - Scuba diving in the Galapagos with hundreds of hammerhead sharks and rays...or staying in the Amazon hours by canoe from the nearest village...Umayyad Mosque in Damascus, Syria is breathtaking...
