Austin is the capital of Texas, but has a personality unlike that of any other Texan city. In fact, Austin is so quirky and creative that the city’s unofficial motto is “Keep Austin Weird.” This is a city full of creativity and culture, as best displayed by its renowned music festivals. The city is home to Austin City Limits and South by Southwest, two of the biggest annual music festivals in the U.S. But you don’t have to wait to hear great live music; a trip down 6th Street will present you with a load of opportunities to catch live acts performing all sorts of music on any day of the week.

Check out the natural side of Austin in Zilker Park, a 351-acre park that is home to swimming holes, athletic facilities, and a river that’s perfect for canoeing or kayaking. In the park you’ll also find Barton Springs Pool, a spring-fed pool that consistently stays between 68 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit, where locals and visitors alike come to escape the central Texas heat.
