I climb at The Studio in downtown San Jose. It's a small gym, but has plenty. They refresh the routes fairly often. I climb 2-4 times a week and it stays fresh enough. The bonus is that it's a Touchstone Gym, and there are a few of those throughout California. I've also heard good things about Planet Granite, and one of my neighbors works there. Really, just pick what is convenient.

Hey there everybody! I am visiting San Jose in two weeks and i want to go dancing to some electronic music place. I don't know if there is a good one with some house, deep-house or techno place. I would love an advice from a local. Thank you!

What kind of bar are you into? Beer, wine, fancy mixy things? There's a good smattering of options in Downtown San Jose on 1st street or in San Pedro Square.

Thanks Faith - I'm not too fussy, but considering the silicon valley proximity, I'm happy with any place that is not overrun with IT professionals.
Axe, thanks for the invite. I will try pop down if time permits.
Also do you think Santana Row is worth checking out?

Hello Santa Cruz! I am kindly asking for advise...
I have been backpacking for 40 days through West Coast and have just 4 days left in USA. Last of my trip dreamlist points is trying out surfing (never had opportunity before).
While I was in LA I have tried to take 2hrs long surfing lesson (found some groupons for 50$ which is a lot for me but I guessfor California I cant make it much cheaper). However all lessons were canceled due to high waves and strong current :(
Now I am in SF for last 4 days, I came up with the idea to make one day trip to famous Santa Cruz and surf there. I was told this place will be even better and cheaper than LA. I checked the schools and prices and it all starts from 90-100$!
Could you please give me some tips where I should look for?

santa cruz is super expensive! I would recommend a lesson over just getting a board and going out alone if you have never tried. have fun!

I was wondering where can I find good spots for inline skating?

At Basset and San Pedro there's a makeshift skateboard park with some quarter pipes and ledges. Lake Cunningham has a legit park from what I hear and fair oaks park in Sunnyvale is fun
