Hi Everyone! Glad to see you. My name is Edy and Husni. We both are painters that focus on turning plastic waste into arts. By using plastic waste as our main material in painting, we believe that it can help to voice out the negative impact it would have to our beloved earth. We are currently staying in CIGUGUR village, CIGUGUR, PANGANDARAN WEST INDONESIA, 46392. Before going further, perhaps let me explain a bit about myself. I’m Edy Suranta Ginting from BERASTAGI MEDAN NORTH SUMATRA. I have been traveling around Indonesia to make campaigns about education in environment, arts, organic farming and home industry to all Indonesians in the areas I visit, for over 20 years. And at the moment, I’m currently residing in CIGUGUR with my close friend Husni, who is also a painter and a local from CIGUGUR village. Here, we have plenty of activities to do that include: 1. Waste management in turning organic and non organic waste into arts 2. Making documentary films about nature, arts and anything that is fascinating around us 3. Cleaning all kinds of trash or waste at the closest beaches and rivers. 4. Learning about farming without using any pesticide or any chemicals 5. Planting mangrove around the beach areas. 6. Camping, hiking, surfing, and even fishing in the sea or river. 7. Lastly, you will be also participating in building our tree house which will be made entirely from all types of waste! :) (non medical waste). From all the activities that we do, we always try to include kids,teens, and everyone in the area to educate them about the negative impact of trash/waste towards the environment which directly affect all beings on the earth, and how we use our creativity to turn something unusable into something valuable. If you like, you can always bring any kind of your education tools to all people in the area such as sketchbooks, painting tools, or seeds from your country to be planted in Indonesia, of course only those which can survive in a hot weather :) (However, anything will do!) If you are interested, you could volunteer and surely have fun with us by coming to our village! We would be more than happy to welcome you. At the moment, we have two private rooms which you can use whilst staying with us, until we manage to build the tree house. And once it’s done, there will be plenty more rooms available! For those of you who are interested, you could go to Jakarta then take the GAPURA NING RAHAYU BUS from Kampung Rambutan terminal, East Jakarta. The bus is only available in two schedules during the day: at 06:30 WIB and 18:30 WIB. The estimation of the journey is around -+ 8 hours from Jakarta to Cigugur Village, by Bus. From there, you could stop at the last stop of the CIKEMBULAN terminal, and we would be there to pick you up. However, we totally understand the long journey you will have to go through if you’re coming from abroad. Thus, you could also come to Jakarta and stay at my place (Edy), before taking the bus to Cigugur Village. The address is on Perumahan Imperial Gading Blok F2 No.7 Sukapura Kelapa Gading Jakarta Utara. You are very welcome to stay at my place to take some rest before continuing your journey.
