Wants to Meet Up

Quit my job to travel the world at the start of 2015. It's going great so far.
Before I hit the road, I lived in San Francisco for 14 years (and hosted many people during that time), where I worked for a bank, but burned out, and I now I spend my time enjoying every day for what it is. That has included doing fun stuff and seeing exotic places, but even the ordinary and mundane is pretty fun these days. Sometimes new friends tell me, "Paul, I cannot believe you actually used to work for a bank," which makes me very happy.
While traveling, I do some travel writing, which I mostly just share with friends and family at this point. If you host me, I'll be glad to share with you too. I also do some work while traveling on this project, which a friend and I started a couple years ago: www.yogajoes.com.
Being a good guest, and a good ambassador of my country wherever I go is a big deal to me. I think I do a good job. If you host me and you want to hang out all the time, that's awesome. If you're a busy host and don't have that much time to hang out, I know how to entertain myself. I am happy to adapt.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love what Couchsurfing stands for, namely, that it's worthwhile to assume the best in others. The community has provided me with some great experiences, most notably a great night in Nairobi and killer company for a Scissor Sisters concert in Portland.
Interests: Exploring nature, meeting new people, learning, reading, dancing (my preference = hip hop), comedy performance (I have done stand-up and sketch off and on for a number of years now), camping, travel writing, low-carb dieting (which is tough on the road). Also, Armenian brandy. (It's so goddamn good. Winston Churchill knew what was up.)
I really love sitting around campfires. And I also really like looking at big, classical paintings. I can do either one for hours and hours and hours.

Teach, Learn, Share
Can teach you how to properly tell a joke in front of an audience and how to build a campfire that lights reliably and quickly.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I make excellent french toast (at least that's what it's called in the USA) and am glad to make it for you.
