About Me

CURRENT MISSION

TO LIVE, TO LOVE, TO FORGIVE and TO NEVER GIVE UP

ABOUT ME

My name is Natalie and I'm a grad student at TCU. I travel as often as I can, and as a student I have lots of opportunities to do so. I am a very curious person, and enjoy getting to know other people and how they do life. I love trying new things, and I'm very adventurous. I am allergic to cats and dogs :( but I am a fan of fish and until recently I had a beta named Stanford. I love watching movies and listening to music, especially with friends.

I used to live in Spain, which was wonderful. I plan to stay in the states for a while longer but want to live abroad again eventually. Obviously I love traveling, and I want to go everywhere. I am naturally curious and like to ask questions. I love learning about other cultures and ways of thinking and doing. Ethnocentrism is one of biggest errors we can commit as a society.

PHILOSOPHY

Free grace has washed away my sins.

John 3:16

All the beauty in the world screams the existence of its maker.

"To work earnestly, to speak kindly, to act sincerely, to choose thoughtfully that course which occasion and conscience demand." -Ethel Howard, 1904

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I do my best to be a welcoming hostess, and to be a polite and friendly surfer. It's all about trusting others and getting to know them. I try to trust people until they give me a reason not to. We've only got one world to explore. We're all in this together.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only had positive experiences, and I always try to couch surf when I'm in a different city. Some of my favorites include my hosts Paris and in Hamburg. I moved to Texas from DC so if you've been there I'd love to chat about that as well!

I love hosting travelers when I can, so send me a message if you'd like to come and stay!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I swallowed a goldfish live once. It was a dare, but my friends were totally kidding. I didn't know that at the time, so I did it anyway. It went down pretty easily because it was slimy. The fish swam around a little and I thought I was going to be sick, but then it just stopped. I bet that was my stomach acid killing it...does this qualify as amazing?

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not really sure what I could teach in the couchsurfing community. I can sing pretty well, and I've taught children's vocal lessons. I guess I could teach English, Spanish, and a little ASL. And if it were possible I suppose I could teach enthusiasm...I certainly have enough of it to go around. ;)

I'd like to garner whatever I can from this experience. I'd like to learn more about different countries by visiting various cities and meeting locals. I always love meeting new people, because everyone we meet can teach us something about ourselves or our world.

I think a lot of what I can share is also up there with what I can teach. I can share a lot about my culture and my life. I'm a very open person, and love sharing the experiences I've had so that even one person may be able to relate to something I've said and live a better life because of it. I hope this isn't too cheesy...but it's true!
