About Me

ABOUT ME
I'm an artist and engineer. I have a website here if you really wish to see what I do for a living: www.jasoncook.io
I have been a sole traveler since I was 16. I like to discover new things. I like to keep moving. I have lived in many cities including New Orleans, Houston, Austin, Chicago, Montreal, Los Angeles, New York. My last few years have been based in Paris, France. Here I have worked as an an artist and collaborator for many others in the field of technology and innovation. I believe I still have a strain of nomad in my ways. If I am contacting you it is possibly to journey further in my life. To move on to new adventures. I am very open and adaptable to other ways of life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Like everything else, I do this for my art and I feel like this is a very exciting time that we live in. This way of networking seems like an interesting way to explore new nomadic frontiers.

Interests

Art is always first on my agenda. Poetry is a good one too. I love a good piece of literature on a rainy day. I enjoy anything that has a sense of fascination and adventure.

Music, Movies, and Books

Of all three of those choices I more than often prefer a really good book. I really enjoy reading. I have a lot of favorites but something that's really resonated for me the most in literature is the existential stuff. I've always loved Kafka and Camus. I love a lot of the nerdy critical french stuff. Can't get enough. But I also enjoy something like Harry Potter in French. That stuff is actually really fun.
Music: Grew up with a lot of industrial, rock and roll, and plenty of Pink Floyd. I love Skinny Puppy but I also have a strong appreciation for anything that's just good, like Louis Armstrong and Miles Davis, or Serge Gainsbourg. There's some really great Hip-Hop out there too.
Movies: ah, not sure anymore. I'll go for just about anything remotely interesting. Sometimes it's just fun to go see one of those summer blockbusters.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hurricanes. As long as it's a safe situation, I love hurricanes

Teach, Learn, Share

I consider myself a renaissance man. A jack of many trades. I can cook (New Orleans style. Yum!). I can knit and crochet. I can weld. I know electronics and almost all forms of visual arts very well. Great woodworking skills. I understand a lot of software, from 3D modeling to video, image, and sound editing. Teaching is something I've always get very excited about. So if there's anything I can help with, by all means. Just let me get a cup of coffee.
As far as learning, same thing, I'm very interested in whatever comes my way. Knowledge is power, no?
