About Me

I am a 34 year old man. Currently I am working toward purchasing a bus, renovating it to live in, and hitting the road. I figured I would use couch surfing to meet with people that have space on their land or in their driveway as I make my way around the nation. I am an artisan working in wood, leather, sculpture, paint, and a variety of other art forms. I also do design work, website development, and other techie things. I want to travel the country finding people that are interested in building communities around sustainable, renewable, and simple life. I hope to find out how to build true communities where people care for each other. I can talk about most anything and feel I am generally an interesting person to speak with.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Along with traveling and living in a huge bus, it is difficult to find places to park where you won't get a ticket, a trespass order, or a tow truck on the way. I am couch surfing first to find safe and legal places to park and kick up my feet for a while. However I am also couch surfing because the entire focus of my journey is to meet new people. What better way is there than finding those people in cities stuffed to the gill with them, than those who are willing and excited to also meet new people, take them into their homes and be so open. Sounds like the perfect formula for who I want to meet along the road. So it just makes perfect sense.

Interests

Not a big enough box, but lets see. Artisan craft, leatherwork, sculpture, metalwork, woodwork, political movements, social economics, religion, sustainable farming, gardening, aquaponics, hydroponics, aquariums and fish, geocaching, computers, design, development, research, archery...I could just go on for hours, I love it all. I love movies, music, and cartooning, I love repurposing, recycling, re-insing. I love my planet and every animal out there. I love people and communities. I love seeing people go out of their way to put a smile on a strangers face. I just love life, so I guess life is my primary interest.

Music, Movies, and Books

As for music, I will listen to anything and everything short of hardcore kill your family rap. I will typically scroll right to the new horror movies before others, though I take in just about all I can. Nowadays I have been spending much more time in the non-fiction section as for books, mostly those involved in social views, economics, and historical reference. Though, from time to time I also like a graphic novel or two.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, to this date I can say that I haven't really done too many amazing things, by my standard of what amazing is. However, I think that what I am currently doing is. I am going to sell everything except what I need, buy a bus, renovate it to live it, leave everything I have known for my entire adult life behind, and head out in search of amazing people, place, and ideas. I am hoping that for the remainder of my life I can live as I have always wanted, as a nomad. So my amazing thing, has yet to come.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think I will just leave this field blank. Within a small amount of time you will know that I am the type of person that will talk your ears off if your interested in learning something. I am a natural depository of information. Every waking hour I am attempting to learn something new, I want to learn until my last breath so there is plenty I can teach. I would love to know your story though, if you have time I would love to learn where you grew up, what you believe you would like to do in your life, what it means to you to have community.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer hosts a small amount of cash if needed. I can offer tutoring on a number of topics. I can offer hard work, or easy work in barter for my space. I can offer classes and lessons on a variety of skills. I can offer many different types of merch I create while in my bus.
