Although I've traveled lots, I've always stayed in backpackers hostels in every country I've been to. I didn't even know much about it until a couple of years ago when my twin brother went on a backpacking trip through Europe and couchsurfed nearly the whole time. When he returned 8 months and nearly 40 references later from his travels he told me all about the great times he had on the trip and how couchsurfing was amazing. Since then we have hosted a couple of couchsurfers and it was a great time as well. I am looking forward to trying it for the first time when I travel in the next couple of weeks!

Dlaczego jestem na Couchsurfing

Starting February 1st (2016) I will be trying to travel as much of Asia as possible. I will be flying into Korea first and then I will be traveling to Japan two weeks after. I've backpacked a fair amount before but I've never tried Couchsurfing at all. I love staying at hostels but I also would really like to meet some of the locals in whatever city I travel to!

- Traveling to as many countries as possible while I'm young
- Going out and catching up with friends - whenever and wherever possible!
- Sports: Hockey is my favourite sport but I have played many others. I like watching almost any type of team sport on TV as well.
- Music: I like almost every type of music. Usually my group of friends listens to underground house or hip hop though which is great to groove to.
- Outdoors: in BC we have lots of mountains really close to the ocean so it's great to get outside and go hiking or camping for the weekend! My family also has a cabin that we go to every summer and it's one of the most relaxing places in the world.

Muzyka, filmy i książki

I'm a fan of almost any type of music. I really think music is a way of enhancing whatever state you are currently in or would ideally like to be in. So that means I'll listen to literally anything from the Rolling Stones to Daft Punk or Pearl Jam to Biggie. That's why I have almost every type of music on my iTunes and any voids are usually filled in with Songza and Soundcloud!!

I don't really have a favourite specific genre of books either however I really like reading memoires/biographies. Here are some of the books I have read recently that I've liked:

- Mr. Nice, The Rum Diary, The Beach, Kitchen Confidential, Medium Raw, Tuesdays with Morrie, Devil in the Kitchen (Marco Pierre White's memoir), the Long Way Down and a Year in Provence. I'm also reading a cool book called 'The River at the Centre of the World' about a British traveler who sails up the Yangtze river in the 1990's. It makes me want to do the same trip!

I'm not going to list of all of my favourite movies.... because there's a lot! If I could pick on quote to sum up my thoughts on movies though it would be this one by Christopher Nolan:

"Films are subjective - what you like, what you don't like. But the thing for me that is absolutely unifying is the idea that every time I go to the cinema and pay my money and sit down and watch a film go up on-screen, I want to feel that the people who made that film think it's the best movie in the world, that they poured everything into it and they really love it. Whether or not I agree with what they've done, I want that effort there - I want that sincerity. And when you don't feel it, that's the only time I feel like I'm wasting my time at the movies".

Jedna niesamowita rzecz, którą zrobiłem(-am)

Every trip I've ever been on has been amazing but here's three of my favourites:

- Guatemala: in high school we were able to travel to Guatemala to build house for coffee farmers. We also got to stay in a Mayan village when we were there which was really cool!
- Backpacking Europe: in 2010 I went on my first backpacking trip with 4 other friends. In just over a month we traveled through: Spain, France, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic and Croatia. One of the highlights was attending the Czech Beer Fest that was held when we were there in May.
- Backpacking South East Asia: In 2015 I traveled to SEA and visited Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam. For part of the trip I traveled with my twin brother and the last half I traveled alone for the first time in my life. It was a great experience and I am excited to do it again.

I would love to be able to share my Canadian culture with anyone who hosts me! I'll also be able to share my positive attitude for anything we do while I'm hosted. Oh, and of course we can swap travel stories until we've run out of countries!
