Overview
About Me
Hi, I’m Ziggy — originally from Latvia, now living in Mauritius. I’m 49, but I still feel curious and playful like a student, learning and exploring every day. I enjoy meeting people from different cultures, sharing stories, and finding joy in small moments of life. For me, life is like a little celebration each day — a chance to laugh, connect, and create memories.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love Couchsurfing because it brings the world closer — cultures, stories, and new friendships. I want to help other travelers make their journeys easier and more memorable, and at the same time discover places through the eyes of locals. For me, the best part of traveling isn’t just seeing new places, but connecting with the people who live there.
Interests
I’m passionate about understanding people and cultures, and I love learning how we are both different and similar.
I enjoy traveling, discovering not only new places but also the stories behind them.
Food is a big part of this discovery — I love tasting dishes from different places, and I also enjoy cooking and sharing meals. It feels like food has the power to connect and unite the world.
I like music and dancing too — they always bring me energy.
And if useful, I’m happy to share my knowledge in IT and consulting as well.
Music, Movies, and Books
My taste in music is quite mixed — I enjoy many different styles depending on the mood and the moment.
In movies, I love classics like Some Like It Hot and How to Steal a Million, but I’m also drawn to films based on real events and biographies, alongside favorites like The Godfather, 21, or Hysteria.
For books, I’m inspired by spirituality and personal growth (authors like Michael A. Singer, Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra, Don Miguel Ruiz). I’m also fascinated by psychology — understanding what shaped us into who we are today, and how we can grow into better versions of ourselves.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
For me, life itself is the most amazing adventure. Opportunities keep finding me, and I try to say yes to them — whether it’s moving countries, exploring new cultures, or meeting people on the road. I feel lucky to live in a time when it’s possible to turn dreams into reality and to travel so freely.
