Overview
About Me
I am a professional, entrepreneur, serious student, and committed spouse. Traveling and hosting travelers challenges me to engage with alternative (other than my own) ways of living and seeing the world. I like seeing the best in other people and being my best self for others.
My spouse and I have been vegetarian for spiritual reasons since 2000. In 2005, we began seriously transforming our lives for healthier ways of eating, moving, and enjoying ourselves. I was diagnosed with diabetes in 2009, and I have responded by further committing myself to sustainable living conditions. I have since run a marathon and significantly reduced the amount of driving in cars and watching television that I do in my regular routine. I am excited for ever more adventures.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have not yet hosted or visited through CS. I am setting up a profile at this time primarily to help friends by writing recommendations.
Interests
I love learning, especially about science, technology, healthy living, spirituality, and the logic of abundance. I enjoy computer programming as a career, and I have passions for hiking, climbing, running, science fiction, children's and adolescent literature, and the occasional video game.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love the diversity of fiction that allows us to experience and empathize for the lives of people we might never understand otherwise. I also love reading non-fiction when it tells a very good story or allows me to develop as a person or as a professional.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Since 2010, I have stayed one night a week with friends in Madison, WI in order to work with my regular job. I telework for the other three days of the week. For the first three years, I stayed with a family who are now such close friends that we have adopted each other as chosen family. Since they moved away, I have stayed with an International-themed coop and have loved the companionship and unique experiences afforded to me by this arrangement.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am a technology handy-person, and I am happy to help fix computers, setup online accounts, install a router, advise on parental concerns, provide tips on how to use a Computer/iPad/iPhone, or otherwise swap advice.
