Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe the best part of a place is the people who live there, and CS is the perfect way to experience a new place from a local's perspective - hoping to listen and learn from others' stories and make friends across the globe! :)

I was recently on a backpacking trip, which was my first experience with CS and I don't think I'll travel any other way after -- I was lucky to meet some very fun and interesting people (both hosts and other guests) and I'm looking forward meeting many more in the future!

Interests

Yoga, hiking, gardening, reading, cooking and eating food, learning new things. Pretty much anything that involves being outside. I'm active with a couple social justice movements at my university, and I'm very interested in human rights and global health.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy a pretty wide range of music, just not anything too heavy. I love reading -- some of my favorite authors are Toni Morrison, Tom Robbins, Jhumpa Lahiri.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a yoga instructor & I can also share my experiences with and perspectives on Detroit, as I have been living in the city for the last few years. I hope to learn the stories of the CS'ers I meet too.
