I grew up on the water "Great South bay." I came from an educated family, dad was a doc, went to Columbia . He was well read. He'd read Poe at the dinner table. Annabelle Lee was my favorite, as it had my mothers name , "Lenore."Education was held in high regard... but so was family, fishing , gardening, walking the woods to find frogs. My father would rub witch hazel between his fingers and say smell this. He was a curious soul. I grew up fishing, crabbing, boating , motorcycles. I read , and read. I still read.
Dad's gone. but left a good deal. Values, interests and an insatiable curiosity. I bought a house in Montauk, close to the ocean. My professional life is a bit of medicine, and psychotherapy. I'm on staff at a hospital and have a private practice. I believe relationships can both heal and hurt. I try to help patients understand themselves and who they are in relation to others. I am theoretically grounded by attachment theory, trauma theory, and object relations. I have worked in the field of addictions , and in so many other areas that have coalesced into knowledge and great empathy. I have been mentored by some great thinkers all of whom have made me think.
In my spare time I'm near the water, I'll build a farm table from old barnwood, I recently installed cement countertops. ( i did them) I draw, make jewelry, and dress kinda funky. My patient said yesterday , and I laughed, " I love the way you dress" You can pull it off !! love it , loved her. I am forever curious about people. In my work I want folks to wonder why they think as they do. I want them to be curious w/ me , its what leads to being self observing.
My friend has the most amazing beach glass ever near her home by the water, purple glass which you don't see often. I've collected a ton, make things, its "zen" time , no mind. I relax this way.

Interests

Fishing, walking the beach. Reading. Repurposing furniture, love roadside treasures that I can work on. I just restored a farm table LOVE IT !! I often bring the outside in .Ask my friend about the huge log we carried from the beach to my truck , yipes.
I am forever curious about peoples minds , why they think as they do. I'm interested in Daniel Siegals work at Harvard, the possibility of building new neuronal pathways through relationships, healing psychological wounds. I'm interested in how to best contribute in my work, in self reflection, which ultimately impacts all that is dear to me.

Books . I love Blue nights, by Joan Didion, I love bios , I've read too many books while I did my training in Psychoanalysis.
I LOVE WOODY ALLEN , annie hall , his older stuff. I've seen him countless times play clarinet in Manhattan.

had a kid or two, who, both in their unique ways allowed me to know me, nothing a man or friend has even come close to doing.

Teach, Learn, Share

listen to your children , be able to handle criticism without retaliation. kids ultimately want to please us, don't teach them to sacrafice how they feel in order to spare you. They will read you, and make sacrafices accordingly. but its not their job...... to take care of you(us).
