About Me

Hi! I'm Şevval. I like travelling as much as I can. I am always searching for opportunities to meet people from all over the world, learn about them and the way they live along the way.
I had times when I had to be on my own from a young age so I can say I learned early to be adaptable for different conditions and stand on my own feet. Travelling plays a role in this too.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'd love to see a place from the locals' eyes. I believe that's the right way to visit a new place. That's why if I have the chance, I try to stay in one place as long as possible, to experience the life there. If I can not stay long, I try to spend time with the locals and see how they live, what they do in their everyday lives in where they live. And I think Couchsurfing is a community that gives people opportunity to experience this.

Music, Movies, and Books

If a song, book or a movie reminds me of a place, a person, a memory or a feeling, I can get emotionally attached to that. That's why I can not limit my favorites with genres and they change from time to time.
At the moment, I am a little obsessed with Laiko and Rempetiko.
When people ask me a movie suggestion Memento comes to my mind, since it was a movie different from the movies I've ever watched.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Erasmus in Brno, Czechia! An experience that made me have new lovely people in my life from all over the world and gave me amazing memories I'll remember for the rest of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

Wherever I go, I like learning a few useful words that will help me during my stay there, like "Hello", "Thank you", "Bye", "I don't speak [insert_language_here]"(:P) and some numbers. I'd like to learn these from the locals and would teach useful words to them in Turkish if they're interested.
I'd like to learn the locals' habits in their cities, the places where people always meet or hangout, things they like to do, and special events or festivals of the cities if they have any.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Even though I know I'm not best at it, I can try to cook dishes from Turkish Cuisine. I can answer anything you want to know about Turkey and Turkish, also talk about my Erasmus experience and countries I visited as much as I know. I also make good pancakes. :)
