About Me

I‘m an open, active and positive person. I love traveling and exploring different countries and cultures, especially meeting people along the way. That is why I have lived in different cities like Amsterdam, London Frankfurt, Berlin and have been living in Singapore.

I have moved to Singapore a 1,5 years ago without ever having visited Asia. It's a very multicultural and modern city to live and work in and a good base to explore Asia from. I work as an art director at a big advertising agency and am a freelance photographer. As an art director I create campaigns/ concepts/ commercials and designs for brands and organizations. It's been amazing to have made my job out of what I love doing everyday, work in such a creative industry. I not only get to work for commercial brands in my own time I set up projects and campaigns for organizations to use our creativity for the good instead of only selling stuff to people.

During my studies I started out my own business in photography. I worked for a lot of travel organizations, travel photography is definitely my favorite thing to shoot. Wherever I go I take my camera to capture memories and the people I meet. I always love to collaborate with organizations and brands along the way to keep on creating/

In my free time you can always find me outdoors, in the water, the yoga studio or kickboxing gym which I’m very passionate about. Wherever I travel I keep on training and I think I spend more time in the water then on the land to surf, sail or dive. For me the ocean gives me this indescribable feeling of freedom and happiness.

I just got back from living in Singapore and Bali and road tripping in my campervan through Australia but definitely not stopping the traveling. It’s been an amazing adventure to explore Australia and Asia. I'm very much looking forward to meet and host people who come to visit the Netherlands now too.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The most interesting thing for me is to meet and connect with people from all over the world who I would normally probably not meet. To exchange stories, cultures, ideas and conversations.

I think that the best way to experience a cities and countries is to live there or stay with someone who is already living there. It’s about exchanging something far more valuable then just money.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This might sounds a bit weird but last year I've legalised scientifical research to microdosing LSD as a possible better substitute medicine for ADHD then ritalin in the Netherlands through a campaign I did.

I created a microdosing brand and fictional microdosing product called 'Limitless' through all the media attention it got it changed the taboo and I could actually make a difference.

I did research and worked together with doctors, psychologists and researchers to prove that the law against research on LSD is based on incorrect data and opinions instead of facts and research. Micorodoses of LSD actually have a medicinal and special effect on our brain and overall wellbeing. It improves brain activity and connects parts of our brain that otherwise remain inactive

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach photography and teach this a lot in my free time. I mentioned it before but I really love what I do and especially to share this with people from all over the world. You can connect with people through creativity of a shoot together. I also shoot all the people I meet along my travels. So if you like, I can take photos of you. On my website and instagam you can see some of my photos and travels: www.yvettedewit.com and Instagram is: yvettedewit

What I Can Share with Hosts

Of course photography. I live a healthy lifestyle and love to cook and workout. Whenever I'm traveling I always try to do cooking classes or pick up on the local kitchen because food is an amazing thing to share and to remember a country by.

I‘m a huge nerd in researching cities and countries I go to. I can spend hours reading articles and books, looking at photos and asking friends who have already been. So I could maybe even surprise a host with some things he or she should experience or see in his or her own country:) I'm also full of adventurous travel stories to share.
