About Me

Hi, my name is Håvar. Together with my Austrialian wife we're currently living in Selje, in Vestland county on the very western tip of Norway. We're exploring the area and settling down here, still alot of place to see and things to do, having grown up not too far away from here, it's quite nice to be back here and experiencing the area and activities again.
For the past 10 years I've been living in Neiden and Pasvik close to Kirkenes in Finnmark county. We've hosted well over 100 awesome couchsurfers there over the past years, it's been and awesome experience to meet so many great folks.. We're carrying on the tradition here at our new place and will be hosting when we have the opportunity.

I'm an outdoors man and really like to be outside most of the time and doing different activities in every season of the year. I also like hanging out with friends, cooking up some good seasonal food, listening to music and reading good books.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing to meet new, interresting and amazing people from all over the world. Also I want to show people a wonderful part of Norway.

Music, Movies, and Books

When it comes to music I'm mostly into metal, 60-70's rock, indiepop and less known modern music of different genres.

I usually watch documentaries about nature, politics, exploration, outdoors, mounaineering, climbing, skiing and sailing. I'm also into some fictional movies if they have a good and/or interresting plot.

I read quite a bit, usually books by old explorers, and local history books. I can also enjoy a good novel or other fictional books.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you alot about the history of this part of Norway, what you can experience here and give some reccomendations. Also anything outdoors related is a good topic where I have a lot to teach.

I want to learn more about different cultures told by the people themselves, and not by some text book.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will cook up some good and healthy food for us, probably while playing some good music that you've never heard before but like really well. If you want we can take a tour of the sourrounding area by car, bike or on foot, or if you are staying for some days you can join me fishing, hunting, hiking, skiing or biking depending on the season.

I currently have sleeping space for three couchsurfers. We're located in the main town of Selje.
