My name is Dorian, and I'm currently a bachelor's student in Amsterdam University College. I am half Irish half Japanese, but I mostly lived in Paris. I can speak English, Japanese and French. During my gap year last year, I backpacked through Japan, S. Korea and China and had the awesome chance to stay local's houses. That's why I want to continue my travels even during my term!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe Couchsurfing is one of the best ways to travel and meet local people at the same time. I am really keen to learn about your local city, and share common similarities or differences from my home town in France. I am currently travelling alone, and the only people I meet is in the dormitories or host families, but that’s enough because I am making so many friends from different parts of the world like this.

Interests

Back when I live in France, I played the drums, the guitar and the piano. My current favorite band is the red hot chili peppers and I was able to go see them in Osaka this February ! Travelling is probably my favorite interest, and since I am travelling all around Japan on my own, I am living a dream.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I’ve done is happening right now, i am taking a year off from my studies to travel around Asia and especially Japan. In the last two weeks I have volunteered in a small remote island called Takarajima in the Tokara archipelago. From there I have decided to take a local train trip through Kyushu back to my home town in Kyoto, from where I will take my bicycle and cycle onwards to Tokyo!
