ABOUT ME

Hi all!
In a nutshell I want to meet people, learn things, gain new experiences and help others do the same. I don't like writing too much about me as I believe that's up to others to decide :)

PHILOSOPHY

To have fun and to help others have fun, and to not take myself too seriously. I also think it's important to pay attention to and respect your surroundings, be they people, buildings or countryside, and to offer something in return for the pleasure you get from them.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Other than couchsurfing hook-ups I have slept on many a floor in the UK through friends of friends etc. I also used to have many people sleeping round my house, and once had some couple make out (noisily) on my sofa in Farnham when they stayed round. I was fine with this personally, it was the other two people sleeping in the same room I felt sorry for.

I love music - this is probably my favourite art form. I'm fascinated by history, particularly of the places I've been to, and I love meeting new people (although I can be a bit shy at times).

My preferred genre of music has to be at the 'metal/hardcore' end of the spectrum but I love many things in between including folk. My favourite book is usually the one I'm reading. One of my fav movies has to be 'Amelie'. Gotta love 'Watership Down' too.

There are so many things it's hard to choose. Many of the amazing things we see or do are small and personal and wouldn't even interest most other people.

the summer solstice at stonehenge is right up there. I go every year and if you go for spiritual reasons it can be an intensly moving experience, and the huge crowd can add to this - 10,000 people celebrating as one to the beat of drums as the morning sun stains the sky red above a temple that predates christ by over 2000 years. Amazing! I am hoping to try some less well known locations in the coming years.

I'm not sure what to put here as there is a lot I would like to share. For a more comprehensive guide contact me :) hehe. The following advice is very useful though:

TRAVEL INSURANCE (THIS COULD SAVE YOU £1000's!): Whenever you make a call to your travel insurance always make a note of the date & time of call and also the person's name and extention no. Also, if you have any past medical history at all, or wish to do a dangerous activity, DECLARE IT when you buy the policy! I have had to decline cases costing upwards of £15,000 (the most expensive being more than £250,000) because people didn't declare a condition and pay the £10 extra on their insurance premium. Even one night in a Thai hospital can cost £800 - £1200.

Never buy insurance because it's the cheapest - this usually means it's crap, and ALWAYS read the 'exclusions' and 'terms and conditions'. YOU DO GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

(I worked as an assistance co-ordinator for a company that dealt with over 200 insurance policies including several very large, market leading UK insurance companies.
