ABOUT ME

We actually live outside Kingman to the north on highway 93 by 7 miles, in beautiful So-Hi, AZ, in the foothills of the Cerbat Mountains, high above the clouds in Golden Valley. We have turned our house and yard into a "themepark" on the theme of "Peace & Love & Stuff" and decorated with dozens of peacesigns and other bizarreness. For example, among the many "rides" are "Aerial View of Giant Concrete Peace Sign" and the "Dog Wrestling Arena." The "themepark" also has an outdoor exhibition area for artshows and a library with thousands of books.
Beth and i are both teachers in our late 40s. We are the kind of people who go to Rainbow Gatherings. I play guitar, poorly, and we host parties where people of all ages show up and several play music around our front yard firepit. We heat with wood and grow a little food. I am an author/artist/activist and blah-blah-blah about that [SEE below]. We are raising a 14 year old brainiac, Victoria, whose USFIRST Robotics team recently placed third in the world. Currently [7/23/08] her older sister, Valerie, and her 4 year old, Atlantis, also live with us weekedays. There are 5 dogs and an ever changing number of cats.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hoping to line up some couch time and later hoping to travel some of the world, meet intersting people both here and there

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

As of 7/23/08 we have had 5 couchsurfing experiences and greatly enjoyed ALL of them. A trip through Arizona Hot Springs introduced us to the idea when we met hikers from Denmark. Next, Johnny Colden, an adventurer making his way from Alaska to Argentina, passed through to tour the themepark. Then we traveled and landed with the wonderful Matt Wilson at the astonishing Dead Horse Point State Park near Moab, Utah and then with Burning Man enthusists Karl and Marilyn in Ogden Utah. And finally just hosted an Englishman, Ben, and had a wonderful time. So far, so glad to have joined.

We watch tons of movies (Netflix members), currently [4/2/08] traisping through Junet, we play several instruments and listen mostly based on the positivist attitude of the artist or if we can figure out how to play it, currently [same] working on Steve Earle, Green Day, Wilco and the single "Way Back Into Love."

New currently [7/23/08]: Previewing numerous liberal documentaries for ongoing video series i host at local college, later in fall of '08 to view 20 or so Spanish language films to support taking a Spanish class at college. Just bought most recent album by the fantastical OZOMATLI. Still working on playing music by Steve Earle and Wilco and the single "Looking Through the Eyes of Love" which we played in our wedding cermony.

Literature-wise favorite authors include Kesey and David Foster Wallace, but we read lots of poetry & political stuff. [7/23/08] Recently finished Into the Wild, one of the Celestine books, currently reading Bill Maher humor and Viktor Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning and Billy Collins.

Beth (born in Japan) went to Africa as a child and my years of hitchhiking the country as a teen runaway.
