About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Just finished my PhD and am starting a new chapter in my life. Looking forward to rejoining the world, meeting new people, having new adventures!

ABOUT ME

I am a Geographer- I teach it, I love it, I live it! I like to think that all of us are geographers at heart, why would we be part of the couchsurfing world if we weren't?! I love traveling, meeting new people, learning new things, sharing experiences. I enjoy adventuring and that means different things in different settings- who knows what the next turn in the road shall bring!

PHILOSOPHY

Trust the Universe, Clean House, Help Others

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am a HUGE advocate of couchsurfing- it has made my life more enjoyable and it is a beautiful thing to experience!!!

I have couchsurfed all over Europe and have made life-long friends during my stays. I go to couchsurfing events while traveling and also in the States.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The first trip that I used the couchsurfing network to meet people in other countries and cities, enhanced my travels so much by meeting and interacting with locals. The network builds so fast!

I have since visited my couchsurfing friends numerous times and have surfed every time! :)

Interests

Since I began graduate school, my interests have become more like my educational passions. I am a human geographer, I study critical race theory, postcolonial theory, networking theory and other geography-related issues/topics like volcanoes and abandoned cities, historical events related to my work and everything in between!

Music, Movies, and Books

OK I love Metallica, its a joy left over from my teenage years in Nebraska- don't judge!

I am an avid reader, though because my job requires me to read very intense academic work on a daily basis, my leisure reading tends to be thrillers that require only minimal brain power and are fun mental rides to go on :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I grew up in the Midwest amid corn fields and the prairie. It was the most amazing thing I've done in my life. Oh and this one time, I jumped off an overpass, fearing for my life- but to get the story, we'll have to meet up! :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach Geography! I love to share maps and spatial thinking with people. Come on- we all have our map up on the wall with where we've travelled. This is probs less an actual skill that I can share with folks and more of an invite for a fantastic conversation.

In today's world, positive interactions-across cultures- are incredibly important. Acceptance, honor, and respect- with these three things, we can make a difference!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Friendship, help around the house, an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on, a companion on an adventure- these are the many gifts I have received from surfers over the years and I feel honored to continue the couchsurfing tradition of cultural exchange and building friendships across the globe.

Countries I’ve Visited
