ABOUT ME

I am independent, caring, compassionate, and dependable...I love food, family, friends, and nursing. I admire those who try to make our world a better place!!!...I have lived in Sweden for 7 mos to attend college for pre-school teaching in 1997. Well, actually school was only 3 mos and then I traveled the rest, throughout much of Europe. I have had the opportunity to serve as a nurse on a medical mission to Cebu, Philippines January 2008. I continue to want to travel and experience new cultures and places throughout the world. I plan to participate in another medical mission to the Philippines in January 2010. I am always looking for new places to volunteer. Any ideas or suggestions are always welcomed...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new at this experience. I have plenty of space for people to stay and I live in northeast Minneapolis which is near downtown Minneapolis. Perfect location for travelers.

Interests

i love the outdoors, camping, canoeing, fishing. i like trap shooting and i am working on really liking hunting. i like downhill skiing altho, it's been years since i have (since high school in fact please don't add them up) i like sports in general but i really enjoy playing volleyball. i never have tried roller blading or snow boarding tho i would like to, but i will need a patient teacher for that :-)

Music, Movies, and Books

i enjoy all sorts of music, classical, alternative, soft rock, rock, jazz, country, it all depends upon my mood at the time.house and grays anatomy by far are the best shows out there! granted, i am in the medical field. so maybe that has something to do with it?!?!? :-) although, i do enjoy ugly betty quite a bit too! some of my favorite movies are a scent of a woman, saving private ryan, dead poets society, Antwone Fisher, in her shoes, the notebook. some of my favorite books are the notebook, in her shoes, the guardian, memoirs of a geisha, tuesdays with morrie

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While on my medical mission to Cebu, Philippines, we served close to 6,000 patients medical care but I only remember 1 individual destinctively, he was a gentleman that we were unable to treat due to not enough materials and staff. I will never forget that man. He thanked us time and time again even though he walked for over 8 hours on foot to get there and then we were only able to treat him superficially! It's amazing just how much we take for granted. He was so thankful for the little that we did for him....
