About

For the third instalment of our 'Galician Coastal Crashes', we decided to host this year's event in the city of Vigo on the weekend of the 'Morisquiño' Urban Culture and Action Sport Festival. The festival features FREE exhibitions of street sports such as: Skateboarding, BMX, 3x3 Basketball and Break Dance, as well as street art and live music, so it will be a lot of fun to check out while we explore the city and surrounding areas. If you're interested in our Crash, we recommend that you JOIN so you can follow the itinerary (which will be posted in the 'Comments' section) as it unfolds.

A Flexible Itinerary

Since the event is less than a month away I thought I'd post a 'Flexible Itinerary' which can be adjusted based on who's ACTUALLY going to show up, and their level of fitness and ehm.. 'cultural' interest in the activities on offer.

On Thursday August 6, let's meet in town for lunch. We can figure out where and what to eat once we know how many of us can make it. I would then propose we hike up to the Parque Monte del Castro for the best views of the city, and to get our bearings a bit. After coffee perhaps a siesta would be in order, after which we can head to the Praia de Samil to check out some of the activities at the Marisquiño.

If we wish to visit the Cíes Islands on Friday morning, we must first obtain a free visitor authorization from the Xunta de Galicia Authorization Website. If noone's particularly keen to do this, we can always walk around town and explore the city at a much more leisurely pace. Later in the afternoon we can head to the Praia de Samil to enjoy the beach and check out some of the activities at the Marisquiño.

On Saturday August 8, I thought we could spend the day visiting the nearby city of Pontevedra, and since I just heard that Colombian band Bomba Estéreo are due to play on the beach for FREE in A Coruña, why don't we spend the night there!? FYI - I can host 2-3 people at my place in A Coruña ,))

Depending on where we end up on Saturday night, we can decide to have our 'Farewell Beach Picnic' on Sunday at any number of beaches or parks.
