ABOUT ME

I enjoy sunshine and green fields and smiles. Creativity grabs my attention and randomness is always fun and often comes with adventures, also I value good intentions and the experience of laughter.

I grew up Scotland, my parents are Dutch and I have been lucky enough to travel to many places in the world. Currently residing in Utrecht in the Netherlands I enjoy all the local micro-breweries and art house cinemas.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I spread the word of CS to the good people I meet as the best way to travel! Surfing & hosting some and sometimes in a CS groups.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first couchsurfing experience was while I was travelling across Canada, I ended up going from couch to couch, mind to mind having such a blissful time!

Intereses

Celebrating expressions of life through the arts always interests me.. so making and seeing art such as painting and photography, making and listening to music, reading, writing down my ideas about society and philosophy, and cooking always sparkles my heart.

For art I enjoy going to museums of artists I like, such as impressionists, surrealists and pop art.

I general am interested in learning more about culture and humanity within society... and it's relationship with the environment.

Movies such as Howl, I Heart Huckabees, The Grand Budapest Hotel, People Are Strange, or documentaries like Louis Theroux, The Salt of The Earth, Paris is Burning, Nature documentaries, and anything that makes me laugh.

Within the realms of music I enjoy listening to old classics on my old LP record player such as JJ Cale, Neil Young, Della Reese or the Beatles. At home its mostly unusual singer song writers such as Joanna Newsom, Andrew Bird, Anthony and the Johnsons, Cocorosie, Camera Obscura, Cat Power etc, and when its party party its slower, darker electronic mostly.

Some of my favourite books: Momo; The House of Spirits; Cats Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut; The Education of Little Tree; The Favourite Game by Leonard Cohen; The Unbearable Lightness of Being (a couchsurfing profile is just not complete without mentioning that book).

Perhaps one would be: Sitting on black rocks with the dark blue sea in front of me, and the sky in layers is purple and blues and the moon is shining bright and shimmering over the sea.
