CURRENT MISSION
Easing into retirement, hope to see more of the world.
ABOUT US
My wife and I are starting to travel more, as we are semi-retired - we will retire completely in 2027. Our dream is to see a lot of the world while we are still healthy, as who knows that the future holds. We are very fortunate to be able to fly inexpensively, since our son is pilot we can fly standby affordably. When we travel, we love to experience the people, culture, and food. We visit a lot of museums, parks, do a lot of walking. We love connecting to nature. We're not at all "influential" - we are not on social media. Travel is to experience new people and places, not to post selfies.
We did some couchsurfing quite some time ago, including a great trip to Sweden. It was great to connect with other people, and our son, who was a teenager at the time, got to see the generosity and kindness of people opening their homes to us. We will be accepting guests ourself soon, as we are renovating a small apartment that is part of our house. Our son lived there for a few years as a young adult - old enough to be on his own, young enough to want Mom to cook dinner. He's on the other side of country now flying a medivac air ambulance.
We don't smoke, and I have an allergy to smoke, so we can't stay in places where people smoke or have people smoke in our place. We love to meet people, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation/identity, religion, or ethnicity.
We have a bucket-list goal of going to all the motorcycle races in MotoGP at least once. We have been to 6 of 22 so far. Each time we spend a week or two and experience the are. With our standby flights and some couchsurfing, the goal seems attainable.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Been a while. We hosted some lovely people - a young woman bicycling across Canada and a wonderful family with a baby from France. We also stayed in Sweden with a great couple - both gentleman could not have been nicer.
After a long hiatus, we are going to dive back into couchsurfing. We hope to host as many people as host us, and maintain the karmic balance.

Music, Movies, and Books
Dixieland Jazz, Classical, 70s rock - my musical tastes vary. I love live music of all kinds.
The Princess Bride and the Shawshank Redemption are my favorite movies - regardless of how many times I have seen them, I enjoy another viewing.
I don't read enough currently, but I enjoy classic science fiction - Asimov, Bradbury, Hebert, Heinlein. My wife is currently reading War and Peace.
