About Me

CURRENT MISSION

HAVE LEGS, WILL TRAVEL. LOVE MEETING FELLOW TRAVELERS FROM ALL OVER

ABOUT ME

I am not your average 9 to 5 person. I do my own thing on my own time. I have travelled to 79 different countries. Last year I went trekking to Mt Everest Base Camp and helped raise money for a Canadian Orphanage called Child Haven in Kathmandu. I also went to meet a friend in Norway and we travelled to Portugal March/April 07....it's a neat corner of Europe...the Great Algarve beaches go on forever. Last winter my girlfriend & I went to Argentina, Chile & Uruguay for 6+ weeksof their summer....absolutely luved it, the wines, the people, the sites, foods, beaches & scenes... except for having my camera and daypack stolen in front of Argentina National Congress building in BA on our way to the airport to fly home..lost all 650 pictures AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

PHILOSOPHY

Treat others as i would want to be treated myself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am joining to be a host and to travel to spread goodwill amongst all peoples around the world.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have travelled with SERVAS and am also a host for over 25 years. I have met some amazingly wonderful people in many countries through this special experience of living with local people in their home environments. I have worked as a volunteer Ranger in 12 Costa Rican National Parks. I lived with the local Rangers and gained a deeper understanding of life in Costa Rica for many of them. Great life and learning experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

many kinds of music.
i like documentaries on important subjects and issues. I also enjoy good suspense and dramas.
I read travel, financial, spiritual, self help books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I had an amazing 1 and half year trip around the world to 5 continents and 32 countries. AWESOME!!!
Walked along the Great Wall, climbed to Waynu Pichu above Macchu Pichu....whole different view, got stuck in the mud in our Land Rover during a torrential rainstorm on a night safari in the jungles of Zambia... Yikes, I wonder where the lion is???
I have volunteered for a month each on 2 inspiring & worthy projects in Africa. 1st time to Zambia in 2005 for a pilot project to link up our city of Kelowna with a similar sized remote community there. Kelowna is now twinned with Senanga, Western Zambia. 2nd time in 2006 to Kenya to help do a preliminary assessment for a specific donation project to Nyarut village in Western Kenya near Lake Victoria. They now have a new school & equipment, medical & agricultural supplies. More is still needed and being fundraised for.
I have swam with, played with & petted dolphins in Roatan, Honduras and Key Largo, Florida. Very Cool!!
I have been a grey whale tour guide in Baja Mexico for 2 winters. We were lucky enuf to come close to 100's of Greys, Humpbacks, False Killer Whales and even the occassional Fin Whale and Blue Whale & of course, 100's of beautiful dolphins & we were fortunate to pat (scratch & tickle) several adult and young Grey Whales.
In 2007,climbed to Mt. Kala Patthar (Black Rock in Hindi)above Mt. Everest Base Camp at 18,400 ft.
Crewed a boat from Ottawa River in Ontario , Canada thru the intercoastal waterway system all along the eastern US coastline through 9 US states for 2 months to Fort Lauderdale, Southern Florida.

Teach, Learn, Share

By being careful with finances ( both earning & spending), I have been able to step outside the normal work world and have lived a lifestyle which allowed major amounts of travel experiences.
My motto:
Time is the currency of life... Spend it wisely.
