About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel as much as I can and meet some cool people along the way!

ABOUT ME

I currently live in Brooklyn NY, having grown up about an hour away and after spending 4 years in Boston for University. I have also lived in Nashville, TN for a summer and Tokyo, Japan for a semester. While I have always enjoyed traveling, living in Japan made me realize that I want to explore as much of this world as I can!

I'm really into music and I go to a lot of shows, and I used to host my own weekly radio show for four years. I'm also really into photography (some of my CS hosts have made fun of me for how many cameras I bring on my trips!), riding my bike, eating a lot, street art, riding mopeds, playing bass guitar, playing dodgeball, lightning bolts, exclamation points, and of course traveling! I love taking pictures in photobooths, especially with friends. I loveee karaoke! I'm interested in Japanese (pop) culture, but I'm not that into anime. My good friend said that I am the laziest person she knows, yet also said I do a lot more than anyone she knows too. I'm easygoing and almost always hungry.

PHILOSOPHY

I like to try to do as many interesting, exciting, and fun things as possible!

When traveling what I enjoy most is the quirky and unique sides of a city. And of course finding adventures.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I CouchSurfed for the first time in Mexico in August '08 and had a great time hanging out with a CS ambassador. I also CouchSurfed my way from San Francisco to Chicago which was a lot of fun, I just wish I could have spent more time in each city with the people who hosted us! I CS'ed in Stockholm and Oslo in August '10, Barcelona and Lisbon in January '11, Toronto April '11, Chicago April '13 and Savannah March '15!

Interests

Travel, photography, shows, bike & moped riding, street art, karaoke, playing bass in my band, sitting, eating, reading, adventuring.

Music, Movies & Books

Some of my favorite bands are Sugarcult, Lola Ray, Army of Me, Longwave, Sasquatch & the Sick-a-Billys, Rocket From the Crypt, Ra Ra Riot, Motion City Soundtrack, Jawbreaker, Forgetters, Obits, The Hives, Metric, Maximo Park, Misfits, The Kills, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, The Thermals, Tokyo Police Club, Jimmy Eat World, Jets to Brazil, Oasis, Buzzcocks, and a ton of others.

As for movies I like Snatch, This Is Spinal Tap, American Beauty, Battle Royale, Anchorman, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Wayne's World, etc.

I'm always looking for recommendations for books since I don't have time to read as much as I'd like to.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Studying abroad in Japan in general was probably the best thing I've done overall as I had a lot of amazing and unique experiences there, and it reinforced my love for travel and different cultures.

In two separate trips, I have driven cross-country (Chicago to New York in '07 and then San Francisco to Chicago in '08) which was a lot of fun. I was able to CouchSurf my way through on the second half of the trip which added to the experience.

I've seen my favorite band 67 times (ridiculous, I know!) and was thanked in their liner notes. There have also been many fun adventures linked to seeing them.

I'm sure there's more specific things I could put here, but you'll just have to dig them out of me in conversation ;)
