ABOUT ME

My good friend Zaina wrote this and I think it is probably (a very kind and funny) description of me:

"I’ve known Arun for years, but I’m genuinely at a loss when I try and tell you what he does... something to do with finance. I do know it means he gets to do some very funny podcasts giving his expert opinion on matters that go completely over my head, and gets offered opportunities to write newspaper articles and go on TV - so perhaps whatever he does is more exciting than I imagine. He’s a keen traveller and last year he went to the Galapagos islands to help the tortoises. So he has a caring side too! He likes to keep in shape and is a keen gym bunny! Arun is also an expert cocktail maker, he went on a special course last year and has all the kit, including his own Mexican tequila cowboy costume. Very handy for parties!

In the interest of balance, and being completely honest, I must point out that Arun is not perfect. His cooking skills definitely need improvement, I once watched him eat soup for dinner for an entire week. Occasionally he’ll branch out and get a Nando’s, or once I saw him try to cook a baked potato"

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A lot of fascinating people I have met in my whole life have been through Couch Surfing! It never seizes to amaze me that you always learn something new from every new person you meet.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

I listen to anything that sounds good – I have seen artists as varied as Rihanna to DJ Tiesto live. I even had the (mis)fortune to see the X factor live. The same goes for my taste in movies but I usually can't stand chick flicks :-) I am currently into the superhero movie genre and my favourite movie that I watched this year was the Avengers.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I spent a month in the Galapagos as a volunteer helping the locals in the conservation of the islands. I am an expert now at using a machete to get rid of the non-native blackberry plants. It’s a bit sad to see how excessive tourism is destroying this amazing place. As a volunteer, I got taken to places where tourists are not allowed and experienced a few stunning moments – my favourite was taking a dip in a lake on top of a dormant volcano. I was also lucky enough to see Lonesome George while he was still alive and enjoying his celebrity status!
