About Me

Tere! Born in Estonia and spent most of my life in the US. Then I decided to grow my beard and travel the world. I'm based in Tallinn as of January 2024. I'm drawn to distance running, deep discussions, making merry, sudden camaraderie, going down internet rabbit holes, loose leaf tea, intriguing essays, off the beaten path travel, and pushing myself to try new everything. ADHD chronic creative.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It would be a lot easier to book a hotel or something than to put myself out there and ask strangers for hospitality, but I want to couchsurf for the connection it engenders, not as a way to freeload. I'll try to make it worth it for you to have me.
I'm curious about how places and people around the world are. My favorite thing to do is to go wandering in parts of cities where there are no tourists and get the local experience. I want to know everything about you and your community. My favorite things to see are street markets, hole in the wall restaurants, and parks where groups of friends hang out.

Music, Movies, and Books

Latin party music gets me excited. Musicals get me invested, JCS is my favorite album. I love listening to music in languages I don't understand. Lucio Battisti and Italian music in general is beautiful. I sing in open mics and do karaoke.

I love Casablanca as a great, tightly written classic movie, Lawrence of Arabia for its grandeur, and Monty Python and the Holy Grail for its irreverent humor. Holy Mountain is by far the best film I've ever seen.

KSBD is a web comic more people should know about. I wish I had Bukowski's languid self-confidence. But Joseph Campbell or Dogen Zenji give better templates for living.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ran a marathon with next to no prep. Completed a strict Zen retreat meditating 12 hours a day. Learned conversational Spanish in three months. Did ayahuasca in the Peruvian Amazon. Got a joke tattoo in a language I don't speak. Skydiving and paragliding. Hitchhiked from Oman to Jordan over the course of a month. Went from being painfully introverted to able to chat up strangers.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Sincere appreciation for being enough of a weirdo to hang out with an internet stranger.
I'll try to make you laugh, but it's 50/50 if you think I'm funny or not.
I could give you a photoshoot of middling quality. I can share the languages I know.
Clean up, be a sous-chef.
