About Me

ABOUT ME

I am generally a fairly sociable person; I like meeting new people and experiencing new things. I like to travel though the opportunities for that are fewer and further between these days. I like to go to museums and gigs and galleries. I like to hike. I am vegan and recently got a book on foraging which I am excited to put to use. I have not used CS in a while, but if you are going to be about send me a message and mayhap I can host or meet up 😊

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted just a couple of time in NZ some years back. I lived with a few surfers for many years and have gone to quite a few CS meets in the past. I love the cultural exchange that is at the heart of CSing and the thought of seeing the world through the eyes of residents more local than I. I realize this is an old school view of CS but it's best you know I am unlikely to host anyone who just needs crash space.

Interests

Most things interest me in some way, except soccer and golf.

Music, Movies, and Books

Three of my favourite books are steinbeck's grapes of wrath, dostoyevsky's crime and punishment, and gide's the counterfeiters. I like lots of movies- the princess bride, kids, gummo, any good documentry, but I tend to prefer a good TV show; game of thrones, orange is the new black, it's always sunny in Philadelphia. Musicwise I enjoy experimental acts like diamandra galas or einstürzende neubauten, most of the punks, metals and cores, also some jazz, blues, classical, folk and reggae.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It is hard to pick one. Para gliding off the Himalayas above eagles above forests will always stand out for the sheer majesty of the experience, but at the risk of sounding clichéd or sanctimonious, there are significant moments of learning and joy in the everyday too. Ask me about my job. I am privileged to do the work I do.
