About Me

I would rather be ashes than dust!

I like to be outside: hike, camp, climb, bike, ski, paddle, etc. I am a virtual teacher, a tangible mentor and a volunteer tax-preparer. Friends say I'm understanding, friendly, helpful, kind and honest.

I would rather be ashes than dust!
I would rather that my spark should burn out
in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot.
I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom
of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet.
The function of man is to live, not to exist.
I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them.
I shall use my time.
-Jack London

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think that the CS project is fantastic! I participate by building connections through conversation one person at a time. I look forward to meeting you!

Teach, Learn, Share

Most people know that one can follow the pointer stars, the ones at the end of the ladle of the big dipper, to find the North Star or Polaris. Did you know you can follow them the other way to find Leo, the Lion? Within Leo you will also see one of the brightest stars in the night sky, Regulus.
