About Me

I'm a young professional currently living and working in the DC area in international development. More specifically, I primarily work on USAID contracts in a variety of sectors including health, clean energy, and economic growth. I get to travel international 1-2 times a year for work which is awesome but I'd love to meet more people with international backgrounds in DC as well!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

DC can be a really transient place; which is great in that you constantly meet new people with different stories passing through, but also it is sometimes difficult to make deep connections. Looking to maximize on the best part of DC's transience and continue meeting new folks with back stories that inspire me!

My cousin and I are also considering moving abroad for a few years and so meeting anyone with experience living in or moving to Asia or Latin America--would love to pick your brain and hear your travel stories.

Interests

Listening to embarrassing stories, eating pho, biking in new neighborhoods, hitting up free museums, and trying not to fall off of those electric scooters you can rent around DC ;)

Music, Movies, and Books

All time favorite book is most likely Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. Can't seem to keep my interest on any TV shows for more than one season for some reason--with the BIG exception of Game of Thrones (am I right??)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Established a bilateral fellowship between my company and a young professional from Jordan to sponsor them to come to the US to work for one year.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I make a mean honey garlic salmon. And it is super easy to make! I also recently taught my friend to swim which was pretty funny.

Learn: experiences moving abroad; why you did it; any major let downs or things that exceeded your expectations? Also any random words in new languages.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Can definitely give fun advice on what to do around DC (especially free things! important!). My two housemates are also awesome and so we could share cool conversations and perspectives on life.

Also willing to share my green tea and flavor blasted goldfish crackers :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, China, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Greece, Guatemala, Italy, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Mozambique, Netherlands, Portugal, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Spain, Thailand, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
