About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to see a bit more of the world!

ABOUT ME

I'm an interested person who loves to learn and see new things, meet new people and make new friends. I like to slow down and notice the world around me as much as I like a whirlwind adventure.

Having been a teacher, I'm energetic, up for trying new things and sharing.

PHILOSOPHY

Make meaningful connections,.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love getting involved with new experiences, I have a thirst for knowledge and would really love to learn something about all the cultures, people and languages I possibly can whilst I have the chance. There are a few skills I could share too, I'm always up for helping others.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A few stops in Belgium summer 2014. Had a brilliant time, all excellent experiences!

Interests

I enjoy relaxing with films, books and friends and getting out into the world around me in the city or countryside. I have a passion for the outdoors and nature and love to explore new places. I love cats and animals in general, recently getting an interest in reptiles too! Live music is one of my best thrills as well as all kinds of arty stuff.

I really love a proper conversation and learning new things. I am very interested in live music of all forms, theatre, circus, food, cocktails, wildlife, long walks, running (though my knee is currently injured), hitch hiking, the list goes on!

Music, Movies, and Books

It's tricky to pick favourites, I never seem to know what I'll like best from one day to the next, but here's a sample.

Waking Life - what a film!
Her - really interesting challenge to the way we see and feel love, relationships and maybe even life...
Set fire to the stars - a film about Dylan Thomas

Books by HG Wells, such interesting scientific ideas embedded in wonderful writing
NW by Zadie Smith
Life of Pi by Yann Martel
Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon
Children's picture books are a personal favourite too, for nostalgic and aesthetic reasons :)

Music - all sorts!! From cheesy 80s to more refined sounds, classical, electronic, I'll give anything a try. I love Little Dragon, Lucy Rose, SBTRKT, Haim, Baths, fat freddys drop etc... At the moment I am getting into Wild Belle, Twin Sister, Psapp, Flume, Joni Mitchell and I love the Late Night Tales compilation put together by Bonobo too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Taking part in a Shamanic sweat lodge ceremony during a workaway in Germany was incredible, never could have imagined I'd experience something like that.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can finger knit and make pompoms...I can actually crochet and knit for real now as well! Cook pretty nicely. I can also play French Horn and Cello, though it's been a while. I can proofread and write copy, being a primary teacher I can teach most subjects to the appropriate level for up to 11 years old and will give anything further up the ages a go. I'm TEFL qualified so I can teach English to people without any as well.

Countries I’ve Visited

Countries I’ve Lived In
