About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To reach out to and to connect with people, especially with young children in a classroom setting.

ABOUT ME

After living in the Atlanta, GA area for 35 years I decided I needed to see and experience different people and places. So I decided to teach school overseas. Over eight years I've lived and taught in the Marshall Islands, Sierra Leone, Guatemala, Haiti, Mexico, Poland, the Philippines, and Panama. Fabulous experiences, adventures, and friends!

PHILOSOPHY

Make the effort to move from a "safety zone" to a "learning zone." Connect with others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I heard about couchsurfing once I started teaching internationally and have couchsurfed far and wide, having great experiences with couchsurfers around the world. When I resettle after teaching and traveling I plan to be a major couchsurfing host. While I have not yet hosted couchsurfers, per se, before I started teaching overseas I hosted many people from many countries over many years through various organizations and programs.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I find couchsurfing a great way to travel and experience the most wonderful people from many, many parts of the world (including the U.S.) and as a result have been able to have experiences and adventures beyond being a typical tourist.

Interests

Working with children
Actually, I can think of very few things that do not interest me.

  • theater
  • reading
  • traveling
  • classical music
  • swimming

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - classical and musical theater - a different combination in some peoples' eyes.
Movies and books - historical fiction and documentaries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I absolutely love when a child has processed something we've discussed in class and he/she says or does something that reflects a conceptual and/or personal understanding.

Teach, Learn, Share

All we can.
