About Me
Hi! I’m Abdou from The Gambia — a land where the sun always seems to shine a little brighter and the rhythm of life is as vibrant as the traditional drumming we’re known for. Born and raised here, with parents from different corners of the globe, I’ve grown up surrounded by a rich blend of cultures that inspire my passion for connecting with people from all walks of life.
I study law and history, which constantly feeds my curiosity about our past, present, and future. My adventures have taken me through nine countries in West and North Africa, and I’ve also spent time living in Saint-Louis, Senegal, before returning to my roots here in The Gambia.
🏡 Hosting & Couchsurfing Philosophy
For me, Couchsurfing isn’t just about offering a free place to sleep — it’s about cultural exchange, genuine connection, and creating meaningful memories together. I believe every traveler carries a unique story, and I love being a small part of that journey by sharing kindness, comfort, and local insights.
As a host, I’m respectful, open-minded, friendly, and easygoing. I can offer you a cozy space and plenty of helpful tips about the area. When I have time, I’d love to show you around — maybe a walk through the local markets, a visit to the fishermen’s village, trying some delicious senegal food, or enjoying live music in the evening.
One of my proudest initiatives is Maison des Talibés, a project dedicated to helping street children in Saint-Louis. Many children here face difficult circumstances, and our goal is to provide them with care, education, and opportunities to grow in a safe and supportive environment. At Maison des Talibés, we teach, play, and guide the kids, giving them hope and skills for a better future.
If you’re curious, you can visit the project, see what we do, and even participate. Anything from teaching, playing, helping with activities, giving basic support, or just spending time with the children is extremely helpful and appreciated. By volunteering, you’ll not only contribute to their lives but also gain an unforgettable experience connecting with the community.
I love authentic experiences—walking through Saint-Louis streets, discovering the culture, relaxing by the river, or sharing stories over tea. I enjoy meeting travelers who are open-minded, compassionate, and eager to connect, because every encounter is an opportunity to learn, share, and create lasting memories.
Whether you want to explore the city, learn about Senegalese culture, or help the street children at Maison des Talibés, I’ll make sure your experience is fun, meaningful, and unforgettable. Hosting travelers who are friendly, adventurous, and passionate about making a difference is what I love most.
If you’re looking to see the heart of Saint-Louis, meet amazing kids, understand the purpose of our work, and maybe even volunteer, I’d be thrilled to welcome you!
