Because I'm broke and hotels are absurd. Additionally, I've found that some people miss out actually experiencing a country when they choose the hotel route. Forging friendships abroad yield some of the most amazing and enriching experiences.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Been viciously attacked by a camel spider (local term: Khabkhaaba) one dark night in a cement washroom in the middle of the sahara. By summoning what courage and willpower I had, I managed to overcome the spider by pinning it down with one sandal, and "eliminating" it with my other one.

I still can't believe I walked out of that one alive.
