About Me

CURRENT MISSION - To live life meaningfully and gracefully

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Poland and moved to the US in 1992. One thing lead to another and I never left except for a short stint at Cambridge UK. I love to travel - and I don't mean cruises - I mean mountains, jungle, white-water, safaris... I'm a bundle of energy and a queen of million ideas. I love renovating houses, learning languages, painting acrylics, salsa dancing, kiteboarding... etc. I love exploring the world on my bike or more recently a kickscooter! Since moving do the wintery Duluth MN, I've gotten into cross country skiing, trading skis for a mountain bike in the summer. Most recently, I had what I call "early midlife crisis," quit my job and lined up to go do volunteer work in Bhutan. After that I moved out west to Park City UT and that's where I am exploring now.

I love the couch-surfing experience for the kind of people it involves. Interesting, adventurous, you know the gig...

PHILOSOPHY

Live to the fullest. Don't sweat the small stuff. Live like you would live knowing you would die tomorrow. Trust people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host, I travel. I tell all my friends about it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have joined couchsurfing a long time ago and traveled through PuertoRico, Argentina, US and Austria with it. I also hosted a bunch. In my previous travels (like when a bank in Monaco ate my atm card on and left me with just my railpass and no money) I have experienced human kindness and the fact that even language boundaries don't matter. I spent hours talking to Colombian nuns who didn't know any English or French which I spoke, and I at the time did not know Spanish. Yet - somehow - we talked for hours.

I also started my time in the US as an exchange student and spent a year with people who started as complete strangers and are now family.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't get much time for movies but when I do, I usually go to the foreign film or Sundance awards section. Books - whatever I can get my eyes on from novels to historical stuff. I'm not very uptodate on music- I like latin rhythms (hence salsa dancing).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hang-gliding was amazing in a pleasant way. Working in an HIV clinic in Uganda was unforgettable in a depressing way. Rafting Grade 5-6 rapids on the Nile and flipping over under a waterfall was probably the scariest. Hiking in the Himalayas was beautiful
