I'm currently on a Road Trip from MI - Cal. USA.

My name is Abel. I'm originally from Detroit, MI, but have been living in Munich, Germany for 38 yrs now and love it! I have seen much of this world and visited some exotic places like Mongolia, Sao Tome and Antartica.

I'm traveling this time round because I think it's my last chance to (the world is changing for the worse), and while I'm still healthy. When I look at my ruck, I remember the good ol days when I wasn't traveling with a medicine cabinet... ha ha!

My job in Germany was as a headhunter and I enjoyed it very much because I felt that I could help improve people's lives; and I don't only mean financially.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because world travelers need to stay at places that are inexpensive, and it's always nice to help others! This is the perfect place meet others and exchange stories, but mostly to help them out!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love documentaries. Musically, I'm stuck in the 80's (New Wave, like The Cure, Depeche Mode, Talking Heads, B-52s) and love to dance!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitchhiked and bused from Egypt to Munich, Germany. Going thru the Middle East and then from one end of Turkey to the other and back to Germany. Because the other traveler I was with had a map of Bagdad, we got tossed into jail! We got out a few hours later with the help of somebody from the Canadian Embassy!

2nd, amazing thing: Took public transportation (Busses) from Alaska - Patagonia, Chile in 2019-2020. Damn Covid put an end to that travel!
