About Me

"No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up" This is what I am trying to do with my life, each day to the next.

So... I'm a travel, people and animal lover who likes to explore new/weird/unexpected places, rock climb, dance dance revolution (not the game, I literally like to dance, dance some more, and then start a revolution), play sports, socialize, meet new people, bring books to a pub, learn phrases in different langauges so I feel like I could live there only on knowing "where's the bathroom/hospital?," open my mind, be creative, be active and overall, have a good time. Beer culture, traveling, rock-climbing and self improvement enthuse me :DI can be funny, quiet, adventurous, crazy, sane, British...- no, wait, that's not right... I'm American. I think. But ultimately, I just enjoy being myself. Awwwe! After-school special? Yes. True? Uh huh.

Do unto others as you would have done unto you. (The Golden Rule ;D )Follow your bliss.
“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've hosted and surfed, met seriously great people, some of my best friends in fact, and both activities along with CS meetups have enriched my life in an indescribable way.

I found out about CS in Prague. Had a lovely experience with amazing people I still think of as friends today. Hosted some in D.C. and NYC, and this past summer, Couch Surfed in 16 countries, HOLY EFF! Nothing but great experiences.

Film/Movies, Traveling, the Outdoors (hiking, rock climbing, maybe one day ice climbing (F YEAH!) pickup sports like soccer/football/frisbee, reading a good book, hanging out with friends, drinking delicious beer, meeting new people and seeing new things, pushing myself, street art, dogs (I may have a problem as I will ask to pet any one I see), new languages, laughing till my stomach hurts, and... being alive in general. You only have one life to live, so live it to the fullest baby!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I can't name them all or you'd never get to the bottom of this page so, let's say films like the following: Spirited Away, Un Prophet, En la Cama (loved this one), Requiem for a Dream, Stupid movies like Super Troopers ;), Forrest Gump :P, Amadeus, Girl Interrupted, Closely Watched Trains, and other future favorites :)Music: The Thermals, Silversun Pickups, Rilo Kiley, U2, Queen, electronica, trip-hop, drum n base, an eclectic mix of everything basically- anything that makes me feel something or that I can dance to ;)Books: The Millenium Trilogy, The Looming Tower, Love in the Time of Cholera, and I'm currently reading Siddhartha. Hopefully more to come soon!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In the summer of 2011, I traveled for four months to 16 countries in Europe by myself and learned how to hitch hike (one of my bucket list items. It's harder than you think!) IT. WAS. EPICALLY. AWESOME.Other fun facts:I've seen my grandfather's hometown in Poland and my grandmother's hometown in Romania. There, a man told me that when he was 11 years old, he remembers my great grandfather getting shot in the chest (by anti-Semites) and surviving, which brought tears to his eyes, and consequently mine.I've fed a 400 pound bear honey, after which he appropriately responded by sneazing bear juice all over my face.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you basic phrases in Spanish, French, Czech and Hebrew. Note that I say BASIC!I can teach you how to make my grandmother's chicken soup or eggplant parmigiana, Abby Style :)Rock climbing, and I LOVE it! So we can share a love or interest in that/any outdoor sport :DI love movies, film and television and have worked in that industry. I love to discuss movies and compare opinions. I think there's always something to learn from other people.
